SUMMARY OF CRASH: On 9/1/2026, at approximately 0640 hours, Vermont Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash on US Route 7 in the town of Shaftsbury, VT. Investigation revealed that Dana Pratt (34) was travelling north in a 2012 Nissan Pathfinder when he hydroplaned, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle rolled onto the shoulder. Pratt sustained suspected minor injuries in the crash. The Vermont State Police was assisted the Bennington Rescue and the Shaftsbury Fire Department.

SUMMARY OF CRASH: On 09/01/2026, at approximately 1431 hours, Troopers were notified of a single vehicle crash on I89 near MM 64.4 in the town of Waterbury. Investigation revealed that Kayla Groves (32) of Burlington, VT was traveling north on I89 when she lost control of Vehicle #1 due to a defective tire. Vehicle #1 left the roadway, overturned, and came to rest off the northbound shoulder. Groves sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported to UVMMC. Neither passenger sustained injuries.
The Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by members of the Waterbury Fire Department and Waterbury Ambulance Service. I89 was limited to one lane of travel for approximately one hour while the investigation was conducted.

First responders including the
Vermont State Police located a missing woman in the Orange County town of
Newbury on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 1, 2026, more than 12 hours after she was
last seen Monday night. Nina Hickson, 80, was located in the woods near 507
Cheney 4 Corner Road at about 1 p.m. Tuesday and is safe. Her family reported
her missing to VSP at about 9:30 a.m. She had last been seen at her camp on
Cheney 4 Corner Road at about 10 p.m. Monday when she left to walk toward her
outhouse in the woods.
Agencies that participated in the
search included the Bradford Police Department, the Caledonia County Sheriff’s
Office, Newbury EMS and the Vermont Army National Guard.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:
On the above date and time, the Vermont State Police
received a report of a two-vehicle crash on VT Route 105 in Derby, VT. Troopers
responded to the scene and investigation revealed that Dale Hinton was
traveling east on VT Route 105 when he struck the rear of a vehicle operated by
Robert Guest, who was stopped and waiting to turn.
Guest was transported to North Country Hospital for minor
injuries. Hinton was issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for
Unreasonable and Imprudent Speed for Conditions, in violation of Title 23 VSA §
1081(a).

Jason Jejer (34) of Peacham, VT. The operator of Vehicle #2 was identified as
Styvie Boyce (40) of Wells River, VT. Investigation revealed that Jejer crossed
the center line of the road striking Boyce’s vehicle. While speaking with
Jejer, Troopers detected indicators of impairment. Jejer was subsequently
placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and brought to the St. Johnsbury
barracks for processing. Jejer was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia
County Superior Court – Criminal Division on September 14, 2026, at 0830 hours.
