Susco was issued a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On the above date and time, the Vermont State Police received a report of a burglary from Sterling College. Investigations led Troopers to arrest Jack Sawyer of Craftsbury and execute search warrants of several properties with which he was affiliated. Several stolen items were recovered and returned to Sterling College.  Sawyer was transported to the Vermont State Police Derby Barracks where he was processed and later lodged at Northern State Correctional Facility on $1500 Bond.  Sawyer was issued a citation for Orleans County Superior Court for 09/29/2026 at 12:30 pm.

Southworth was arrested for Violation of Conditions of Release and transported to the Bradford Outpost for processing. He was issued a criminal citation and transported to the Northeast Correctional Complex, where he is being lodged on $500 bail. On 9/25/26 at approximately 2249 hours, Troopers from the New Haven Barracks responded to a single-vehicle crash in the area of Lapham Bay Rd in the Town of Shoreham. Troopers arrived on scene and identified the single occupant and operator as Dylan Aker (20). Troopers identified signs of impairment while speaking with Aker. Aker was transported to UVM Medical Center for moderate injuries, where he was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. Aker was later released and issued a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court – Criminal Division.

 

Troopers were assisted on scene by the Shoreham Fire Department, Middlebury Regional Ambulance Service, and Snow and Tow towing.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

The Vermont State Police is investigating the death of Trevis Gembarowski, 44, of Brattleboro, Vermont, who experienced a medical emergency while attended by Department of Corrections staff at about 9:48 AM on September 27, 2026. Department of Corrections staff called for emergency medical services to respond to the facility while attempting life-saving measures. Gembarowski was pronounced deceased at the facility at about 10:19 a.m. The Department of Corrections then notified the Vermont State Police that Gembarowski was pronounced dead. An autopsy was performed at the Vermont Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington on September 28, 2026, to determine the cause and manner of death. The cause and manner of death results however are pending toxicology results.

 

Per standard protocol for deaths involving inmates, a detective from the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations was assigned to the case and responded to the prison to begin an investigation. The death does not appear to be suspicious. Gembarowski had been in the Department of Corrections custody since September 26, 2026.

 

No additional information is currently available. The investigation is ongoing, and the Vermont State Police will provide updates when possible. Further questions should be directed to the Department of Corrections.

Shortly thereafter, troopers located the pickup truck traveling east on VT Route 105 in the Village of North Troy. While following the vehicle, troopers observed a marked lanes violation and initiated a traffic stop.

 

The operator was identified as Jabari Carr (19) of Sutton, VT. While speaking with Carr, troopers observed indicators of impairment. Carr was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and transported to the Vermont State Police – Derby Barracks for processing.

 

At the conclusion of processing, Carr was released with a citation to appear in Orleans County Criminal Court on October 13, 2026, to answer to the charge of DUI.

The majority of the waste appears to have come from adjoining properties and was placed along the edge of the rail trail. Along with substantial cleanup costs, the unsightly waste poses safety and environmental concerns.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 09/27/26 at approximately 1123 hours, a Trooper with the Vermont State Police observed a motor vehicle violation and conducted a traffic stop. The operator was identified as 29-year-old Ethan R. Illingworth. After a subsequent investigation, Illingworth was taken into custody for the suspicion of DUI. Illingworth was transported to the Westminster Barracks, where he was cited and scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division on 10/13/2026 at 0830 hours to answer the charge of DUI.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On the above date and time, Troopers from the Vermont State Police were conducting speed enforcement on I 89 N near mile marker 47.6 in the Town of Berlin when they observed a vehicle traveling 98 MPH in a posted 65 MPH zone. The vehicle was stopped without incident, and the operator was identified as Ethan Bailey (21) of Alexandria, VA. Bailey was issued a criminal citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court – Criminal Division on November 12, 2026, at 8:30 am to answer to the above charge. Bailey was also issued civil ticket which upon conviction carries a penalty of $502 and two points.
