SUMMARY OF CRASH: On August 14, 2026, at approximately 1752 hours, Vermont State Police-Rutland Barracks were notified of a single vehicle crash on Vt Rt 155 in the town of Mt Holly, VT.

Investigation determined Operator #1, who was identified as Kent Stafford of Londonderry, VT, was traveling south on VT Rt 155 when he crossed the center lane and struck a guard rail on the northbound side. Operator #1 attempted to continue down the road before his vehicle was located in a position of controlled rest on the shoulder of the roadway.

While speaking to Stafford, Troopers detected several indicators of impairment. Stafford was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Rutland barracks for processing. At the conclusion of processing, Stafford was issued a criminal citation to appear in Rutland Superior Court on a later date and time.

On August 13, 2026, at approximately 1031 hours, the Vermont State was notified of a two-vehicle crash on VT Route 104 near the intersection of VT Route 128 in the town of Fairfax. Members of the Vermont State Police responded to the scene.

 

Initial investigation revealed that vehicle 1, was traveling east on VT Route 104 attempting to make a left hand turn into a local business when vehicle 2 made impact with vehicle 1 while traveling west on VT Route 104.

 

Both vehicles sustained damage but were able to be driven from the scene.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On 8/12/2026, at approximately 1440 hours, Troopers from the Derby Barracks received a 911 call regarding a possibly intoxicated driver crashing into parked vehicles in the parking lot of Community National Bank in Troy, VT.
Upon arrival, two males were standing outside the vehicle. As Troopers approached the vehicle, a male wearing dark pants and no shirt immediately attempted to flee the scene on foot. Troopers were able to detain him. He was later identified as Trevor Barry, 42 of Lowell, VT and the operator of the vehicle. The passenger was identified as Donald Champigny, of Troy, VT. Barry was operating a white 2015 Kia Sorento and collided with two vehicles in the parking lot, a blue 2025 Chevrolet Equinox and a back 2020 Ford F-150 causing minor damage to both.
While speaking with Barry, indicators of impairment were observed. Barry was subsequently arrested for suspicion of DUI and transported to the Derby Barracks for processing. Barry was issued a citation to appear in Orleans County Superior Court on 9/1/2026 for the DUI charge. Barry was held at Northern State Correctional Facility on his 4 in state arrest warrants. Barry was issued two tickets for operating without liability insurance, a violation of Title 23 VSA 800(a) & persons required to register, a violation of Title 23 VSA 301.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On August 13, 2026, at approximately 3:34 a.m., the Vermont State Police and Vermont Highway Patrol were notified of a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 91 northbound near mile marker 111.4 in the town of Ryegate. Members of the Ryegate Fire Department, Vermont Highway Patrol, and Vermont State Police responded to the scene.

 

Upon arrival, troopers located the tractor-trailer on its side over an embankment.

 

The crash remains under investigation. Efforts to remove the tractor-trailer are currently underway, and one lane of travel remains closed at this time. Motorists traveling through the area should expect delays and use caution.

On August 11, 2026, at approximately 1720 hours, Troopers with the St. Johnsbury Barracks received a report of a stolen vehicle at a Twin State Ford Dealership on Memorial Drive, in the town of St. Johnsbury. Upon contacting the dealership to inquire regarding the status of their vehicle, the dealership stated the 2017 Black Ford Focus was no longer present in the lot. Upon investigation, video footage showed a male in a maroon hoodie and dark pants entering the vehicle before driving out of the lot at the address in question. It was determined the vehicle was stolen at approximately 0011 hours, the morning of August 11th.

 

Vermont State Police is requesting the public's assistance in identifying these individuals. The public is encouraged to review any security footage that shows this area for the individual and/or the black focus. SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On the above date and time, Troopers from the Vermont State Police were conducting speed enforcement on I89 N near mile marker 42 in the Town of Williamstown. Troopers observed a vehicle traveling at 95 MPH in a posted 65 MPH zone. The vehicle continued at speeds of over 90 MPH as it passed other motorists traveling northbound. As Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, it was confirmed via RADAR the vehicle was traveling at 97 MPH. The vehicle was stopped without incident, and the operator was identified as Azalais Capitaine (20) of Easthampton, MA. Capitaine was issued a criminal citation to appear in Orange County Superior Court – Criminal Division on 09/16/2026, at 8:30 am to answer to the above charge. Capitaine was also issued civil ticket which upon conviction carries a penalty of $489 and two points.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On August 11th, 2026 at approximately 1942 hours while participating in ongoing downtown Burlington foot patrols, a Trooper with VSP Williston observed a vehicle being operated in the area of St. Paul Street with an apparent open container of alcohol in the center console of the vehicle.

 

The Trooper flagged down the vehicle and spoke with the operator, identifying him as Scott Camley (age 60) of Georgia, VT. The apparent open container was confirmed to be an alcoholic beverage. Troopers observed multiple indicators of impairment from Camley and he was ordered to pull over and park. At the conclusion of a roadside investigation Camley was arrested for suspicion of DUI.

 

Camley was transported to the VSP Williston Barracks for processing, at the conclusion of which he was released with a criminal citation to appear before Chittenden County Superior Court at a later date and time to answer to the charge of DUI #1.

On August 11, 2026, at approximately 1243 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police – St. Albans Barracks responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on I 89 N MM119.2 in the Town of Swanton, VT. On scene, Troopers were able to identify the operator as Cassie N. Lancto-Jackson (43) of St. Albans, VT. While speaking with Lancto-Jackson, she demonstrated signs of impairment.

 

After a thorough investigation, Lancto-Jackson was placed under arrest for driving under the influence – drugs. Lancto-Jackson was then transported to the St. Albans Barracks for processing and then issued a citation to appear in Franklin County Criminal Court on October 20th, 2026, at 0800 hours for the above charge.
