On August 9th, 2026, at approximately 1722 hours, the Vermont State Police conducted a traffic stop after an observed motor vehicle violation on US Route 7 near the intersection with Dog Team Road in the Town of New Haven. The operator was identified as Adam L. Irons (34) of Pittsford, Vermont. While speaking to Irons, Troopers observed indicators of impairment. Irons also held a restricted license, requiring him to operate a vehicle with an interlock ignition device. The vehicle Irons was operating did not have an ignition interlock device installed.

                                                                                                                                                                            

Irons was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the New Haven State Police Barracks for processing. At the conclusion of processing, Irons was released with a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division on August 31st, 2026, at 1230 hours.      

 

Troopers were assisted by members of the Middlebury Police Department.

SUMMARY OF CRASH: On the above date and time, the Vermont State Police responded to the report of a single ATV crash on Roaring Brook Rd, Barton, VT. Investigation revealed a juvenile was operating an ATV at speeds of over 55 mph in a posted 35 mph zone. The juvenile was unable to fully negotiate a corner, causing the juvenile to drive off the roadway and crash head on with a culvert under a driveway. Juvenile was ejected from the ATV and transported to North Country Hospital for Non-Life-threatening injuries.

The juvenile was issued several VCVC’s and warnings related to the incident.

The Vermont State Police is investigating the death of a man who was discovered in a vehicle at the Charlotte Town Beach. Troopers were notified at about 5:40PM on Sunday, August 9th, 2026, that an adult male was found unresponsive in a dark grey Subaru Forester. Charlotte Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene and ultimately pronounced the male deceased. The death is still under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On the above date and time Troopers from the Royalton Barracks were on routine patrol in the town of Royalton, VT. Troopers observed a motor vehicle violation and subsequently conducted a motor vehicle stop. During the stop, Troopers detected signs of impairment. Barry was arrested for suspicion of DUI and transported to the Royalton Barracks for processing. Barry was later issued a citation to appear in Windsor County Superior Court – Criminal Division and released.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On the above date and time, State Police responded to Leighton Hill Rd, south of US Rt 302, in Newbury for a report of a single vehicle crash.  The vehicle had been traveling south when it went off the roadway on the west side of the roadway.  The operator, Blodgett Jr, was uninjured but was showing signs of impairment.  He was subsequently taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.  Blodgett Jr was transported to the State Police Barracks in Bradford for processing.  He was processed and released on a citation for DUI and violating his conditions of release.  Blodgett Jr is scheduled to appear in Orange County Superior Court-Criminal Division on 08/19/26 at 0830 hours.
