SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 09/02/25 at approximately 2225 hours Vermont State Police were called to 5148 US RT 7, Dorset, for a Domestic Disturbance.

 

Troopers later arrived on scene and made contact with the residents at that address and began investigating the incident. During the investigation, Troopers learned Mark Johnson had struck a household member with a wooden kitchen spoon, causing pain as well as leaving a mark on their face.

 

Investigation also revealed Johnson had threated bodily harm to the same household member via text messages after they had left the scene to get away from the situation.

 

Johnson was taken into custody for Domestic Assault and Criminal Threatening. The charge of Domestic Assault was later upgraded to Second Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault in accordance with Title 23, VSA 1044, subsection 2 (B), due to previous convictions of Domestic Assault.

 

Johnson was later ordered to be held without bail by the Honorable Judge Jennifer Barrett and was remanded to the Marble Valley Correctional Facility.

The speed limit on this section of Route 105 is 50 mph. Troopers observed a vehicle traveling in excess of the speed limit and confirmed via radar to be traveling 91 mph (41 mph over the posted speed limit) as well as operating in a negligent manner. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the operator was issued a citation to appear in Franklin County Family Court on 10/28/2025 for the offense of Negligent Operation.

Investigation revealed that Krause had operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs. Krause was arrested and subsequently transported back to the Wilmington Police Department for processing. Krause was later released with a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division on 10/28/2025, at 0830 hours to answer to the charge of DUI Drugs.

Upon review of the security footage, at approximately 2357 hours an unknown individual forced entry into the store. The same individual exited the store at approximately 0000 hours and fled on foot. The suspect was later identified as Dillon Hall (32) of Lyndonville, Vermont. On 09/02/2025, the cash register was recovered, and Hall was located at approximately 1610 hours in the Town of St. Johnsbury, Vermont. Hall was also found to be in violation of his parole and was transported to the Vermont State Police St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing. Hall was later transported to the Northeast Correctional Complex for being in violation of his parole and was issued a citation to appear at Caledonia County Superior Court - Criminal Division on September 3, 2025, at 1230 hours.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:
 
On 9/2/25 at approximately 0719 hours, Troopers came upon a crash while patrolling the area of US Route 7 and New Haven Road in the Town of Ferrisburgh. There was only one stop sign at the intersection for vehicles entering from New Haven Road. Investigation revealed V#1 was traveling east on New Haven Road while V#2 was traveling south on US Route 7, each at a reasonable speed. V#2 entered the intersection without yielding to V#1. As a result, the front end of V#2 struck the driver's side of V#1 and both vehicles came to respective positions of uncontrolled rest. OP#1 was transported to the hospital by ambulance for suspected minor injuries. US Route 7 was reduced to one lane for approximately one hour.
 
Troopers were assisted on scene by the Middlebury Police Department, Vergennes Fire Department, and Vergennes Area Rescue Squad.

SUMMARY OF CRASH: On 9/1/25 at approximately 1136 hours, the State Police received a report of a minor 3 vehicle crash near the intersection of US RT and Main St in the town of Coventry. The State Police, Orleans Ambulance, Orleans Fire Department, and the Orleans County Sherrif’s department responded to the scene. No major injuries were reported but one passenger was transported to North Country Hospital for suspected minor injury and was released later that day after being cleared. Witnesses stated that while attempting to pull into a parking lot, Operator of Vehicle 1, Metellus Harris, failed to yield to oncoming traffic and was struck Vehicle 2. After being struck by Vehicle 2, Vehicle 1 struck Vehicle 3 causing very little damage.  Harris was mailed a VCVC for violation of Title 23 VSA 1038, Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic. The roadway was cleared by approximately 1245 hours.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On September 01, 2025, at 1936 hours, Troopers with the Vermont State Police Shaftsbury Barracks responded to a report of a two- vehicle crash along US Route 7, MM 28 in the town of Sunderland. Troopers identified Operator #1 as Theresa Randall and Operator #2 as Corina Fusco. Both vehicles were successfully removed, and the roadway was reopened in a short period of time. 

 

The Vermont State Police thanks members of the public for their patience during the temporary road closure.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On the above date and time, the Vermont State Police responded to the report of a threatening incident located at 417 Lower Pln, in the town of Bradford, VT. Investigation revealed David Martin (81) threatened Karen Belknap while displaying a firearm, placing her in fear for her life. Martin was located and subsequently placed under arrest. He was transported to the Vermont State Police - St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing. Martin was issued a citation to appear in Orange County Superior Court - Criminal Division on 09/30/2025 at 0800 hours and was released.
