SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 The Vermont State Police is assisting the St. Albans Police Department with an ongoing search for a missing person.

 

Arnold Joslin, 69, of St. Albans Town was reported missing to the local police department on Monday, June 8, 2026. He was last seen at about 9:30 a.m. Monday near 427 South Main St. in St. Albans Town. He was wearing a gray or olive-green jacket and dark pants. Mr. Joslin is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. His photograph is attached to this release.

 

State police assets joined the search at the request of St. Albans police on Tuesday, June 9, and have included the VSP Search and Rescue Team and the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program, along with the Vermont Department of Public Safety search and rescue coordinator. Additional resources have included North Country Search Dogs and New England K9 Search and Rescue.

 

The disappearance of Mr. Joslin is not considered suspicious, but there are concerns for his welfare. He is described as quiet and shy, and he might be startled if approached. Anyone who sees Mr. Joslin should call police rather than approach him. Police are asking people in the area to check any outbuildings on their property to see if Mr. Joslin might have entered a structure.

On June 1, 2026, at approximately 1523 hours, a member of the Vermont State Police was traveling north on Interstate 89 in the Town of Waterbury. At that time, a Porsche 911 was observed traveling north on Interstate 89 at a high rate of speed. The vehicle's speed was observed to be in excess of 100 MPH. The posted speed limit on Interstate 89 is 65 MPH. 

 

The vehicle was stopped and the operator was identified as Bruno Gubetta, of Waterbury, VT. Gubetta was issued a VCVC for speeding, a violation of Title 23 VSA 1004, which carries a penalty of 2 points and a $530.00 fine. Additionally, Gubetta was issued a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court, Criminal Division, for the offense of Negligent Operation, a violation of Title 23 VSA 1091.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On 06/11/2026 at approximately 1906 hours, Vermont State Police Troopers were notified of a two-car head-on crash on VT Route 30 near Dam Road in the Town of Townshend, VT (Windham County).  Troopers responded in addition to Rescue Inc, Townshend Fire Department and UMASS Med-flight.  Investigation is still ongoing; however, it appears vehicle #1, operated by Cole Eidson (18), was traveling north on VT Route 30 and was left of center and collided with vehicle #2, operated by Kelley Pluff.  Pluff and her passenger, Emily Pluff (26), were transported to Grace Cottage Hospital in Townshend.  Eidson was transported to DHMC via UMASS Med-flight with serious injuries.  He was listed in stable condition later in the evening.  Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any other information is asked to call Trooper Andrew Kelly-Jacobs of the Westminster Barracks at 802-722-4600.

On the above date and time, the Vermont State Police responded to I 89 S in the Town of Berlin for a reported single vehicle crash. Investigation determined Journiann Leclair (26), of Williamstown, VT was driving southbound on I 89 when she struck a guardrail. The vehicle sustained minor front-end damage.

 

Leclair was found unresponsive and she was pronounced deceased on scene.

The operator was identified as Dalton C. Cryer (26) of Macon, Georgia . While speaking to Cryer, Troopers observed indicators of impairment.

 

Cryer was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Vergennes Police Department for processing. At the conclusion of processing, Cryer was released with a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division on August 10th, 2026, at 1230 hours.

SUMMARY OF CRASH: On 6/11/2026, at approximately 1444 hours, Troopers were notified of a two-vehicle crash on Waterbury Stowe Rd. in the Town of Waterbury. Investigation revealed that Mary Cricenti (79) of Milton, DE was traveling north on Waterbury Stowe Rd. when she fell asleep and crossed the double yellow center line. Cricenti’s vehicle continued and struck a telephone pole which fell onto vehicle number two which was operated by Timothy Bachman (67) of Millersville, PA. Bachman swerved to avoid a further collision which caused his vehicle to overturn. Suspected minor injuries were reported by Bachman and his passenger who were transported to CVMC for further evaluation.

 

The Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by members of the Waterbury Fire Department, Waterbury Ambulance Service, and Stowe Police Department. Waterbury Stowe Rd. remained closed for several hours while Green Mountain Power crews worked to repair the downed telephone pole and wires.

Investigation revealed that Sudawan Gordy (56) entered VT Route 153 from Hebron Crossing, when she did not yield to the right of way of Abraham Miller (25), who was travelling north on VT Route 153. SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 6/11/2026, at approximately 0726 hours, Vermont Troopers were notified of a theft on Dean Road in the town of Pownal, VT. Investigation revealed that between 6/6/2026 at 1200 hours and 6/11/2026 at 0530 hours, a 2024 Speed Baja Bandit was stolen from a property on Dean Road. A picture of the vehicle is attached.

On June 10, 2026 at approximately 1633 hours The Vermont State Police – St. Albans Barracks received a report of a Theft in Bakersfield, VT. It was discovered that approximately $200 in handmade leather goods and accessories were purloined from a roadside stand. The identity of the thief is currently unknown. The Vermont State Police are requesting assistance in identifying the individual involved.

On June 8, 2025, at approximately 8:00 hours the Vermont State Police responded to a reported theft on Memorial Drive in the town of St. Johnsbury, Vermont.

 

Investigation revealed that an unknown male and an accomplice entered the property and stole several catalytic converters from vehicles at the Subaru dealership earlier the prior morning, at approximately 5:15 a.m.

 

Surveillance video captured images of one suspect and the vehicle he was operating. Those images have been attached.

News Release – Highway / Traffic Notification 

 

US Route 2 in St Johnsbury, known locally as Portland St is reduced to 1 lane (East Bound) due to power lines down in the roadway. There is no current estimate on the duration of the closure. Green Mountain Power, and St. Johnsbury Fire Department are working safely to reopen the roadway fully.

 

Updates will be provided when available. Motorists should expect delays in the area pr seek alternate routes.
