SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 08/02/25 at approximately 0015 hours Troopers from the Vermont State Police St. Johnsbury Barracks were dispatched to the report of a domestic assault in the Town of Burke, Vermont. Investigation revealed that Miguel Santiago (28) had committed the offenses of 1st Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault and Criminal Threatening. Santiago was placed under arrest and was transported to the St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing. Santiago was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court - Criminal Division on 08/04/2025 at 1230 hours and was held at the Northeastern Correctional Complex without bail.

Upon arrival, State Police were able to identify the male as Edison Apuhangotixi of Arlington, VT. During interaction with Apuhangotixi he admitted to consuming alcohol.

 

Apuhangotixi was found to have active court ordered conditions of release which state he is not allowed to consume alcohol. Apuhangotixi was arrested and transported to the Shaftsbury State Police Barracks where he was processed and released with a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court Bennington Criminal Division on 09/15/2025 at 0830 hours.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On August 1st, 2025, at approximately 1738 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police – St. Albans Barracks were dispatched to a report of a four-car motor vehicle crash on VT Route 105 near VT Route 236 in the Town of Sheldon, VT. Troopers responded to the scene and located the vehicles listed above, all having sustained damage as a result of the collision.

 

Preliminary investigation established that Vehicle #1 was unable to come to a stop in traffic and struck vehicle #2 as it was at a stop in traffic. As a result of this collision, Vehicle #2 struck Vehicle #3 and Vehicle #3 struck Vehicle #4. It was found that all operators were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash and none of the vehicles had airbag deployment.

 

The Vermont State Police was assisted at the scene of the crash by Sheldon Fire Department, AmCare Ambulance Service and Cota’s Towing.

Troopers conducted a traffic stop and identified the operator as Dwayne Somers (69) of St. Johnsbury, VT. While speaking with Somers, indicators of impairment were detected. Somers was arrested for suspicion of DUI and then transported to the St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing. Somers was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court - Criminal Division on 08/18/2025 at 0830 hours.

Bouchard had left the scene but was located shortly after in the town of Swanton. Troopers took Bouchard into custody and transported him to the St. Albans Barracks for processing. He was issued a flash citation to appear in the Franklin County Superior Court on August 4th, 2025 at 1300 hours.

Benson was issued a criminal citation to appear before the Windham County Superior Court on 08/26/2025 at 0830 hours to answer to the charge of Criminal DLS. Oshea was arrested and subsequently transported to the Windham County Superior Court to answer to the charge of Driving Under the Influence of Drugs.

Clute) was placed on constant observation status after refusing to participate in the prisoner intake / admission process.  While providing constant observation, Correctional Officer Brittani Sauca was exposed to bodily fluids after an intentional action by Kelly Clute (spitting through the food chute on the cell door at CO Sauca). 

 

After investigating this incident, Clute was issued a citation.
