SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On September 7, 2026, the Vermont State Police was contacted by the Epsom (NH) Police Department for assistance in locating a stolen vehicle believed to be in the Chittenden County Area. On September 8, 2026, with the assistance of the South Burlington Police Department, Troopers located the vehicle operated by Colby Bevins (29) of Huntington, VT on Garden Street in the City of South Burlington.

Bevins was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Williston Barracks for processing. Bevins was later released on citation to appear at the Chittenden County Superior Court-Criminal Division on November 3, 2026, at 0830 hours to answer to the charge of Possession of Stolen Property.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On September 04, 2026, the Vermont State Police received a report of a theft of property at the Shaftsbury Elementary School in the Town of Shaftsbury, VT. Investigation revealed that on August 22, 2026, at approximately 1130 hours an individual entered the premises and stole property belonging to the school. The individual was observed wearing a white shirt, khaki shorts, and a baseball cap. The individual was seen in operation of a silver 2017-2018 Subaru Forester bearing a Vermont registration plate ending in ----43.

On September 7th, 2026, at approximately 1439 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police – Williston Barracks responded to the report of a single-vehicle crash on Gould Hill Rd in the Town of Johnson, VT. On scene, Troopers were able to identify the operator as Scott Smith (41) of Boca Raton, FL. While speaking with Smith, he demonstrated signs of impairment.

 

After investigation, Smith was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. Smith was then transported to the Morristown Police Department for processing and issued a citation to appear in Lamoille County Superior Court on September 23rd, 2026, at 1230 hours for the above charge.

Upon further investigation it was determined that Carrasco had operated a vehicle earlier in the evening before being picked up by Juvenile 1. While speaking with Carrasco, Troopers detected indicators of impairment. Carrasco was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and brought to the St. Johnsbury barracks for processing. SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On 9/7/2026, at approximately 1422 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police – Rutland Barracks were notified of a two-vehicle crash on US RT 7, Wallingford, Vermont.

Through investigation it was determined that Operator #1 (Mertz) was operating vehicle #1, traveling north on US RT 7. Operator #2 (Morrissey) was operating vehicle #2, traveling north on US RT 7 but stopped to turn left into Shaw’s Sales and Services. A vehicle between vehicle #1 and vehicle #2 passed vehicle #2 and then vehicle #1 rearended vehicle #2. No injuries were reported on scene.

The Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by Wallingford Fire Department and Wallingford Rescue.

During the investigation it was determined that Shadis displayed signs of impairment along with entering an occupied dwelling, stealing items as well as damaging property inside the residence. Shadis was subsequently arrested and transported to the Westminster Barracks for processing. Shadis was issued a citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on September 8th, 2026 at 1230 hours. On the above date and time, Troopers from the Westminster Barracks responded to a report of a citizen dispute on Baileys Mills Road, in the Town of Reading, Windsor County, Vermont. Through investigation, it was determined that Nelson Allen (45), of Reading, VT had committed the offense of Simple Assault. Allen was issued a citation to appear before Vermont Superior Court Windsor Criminal Division on October 27, 2026, at 0830 hours, to answer for the charge.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On September 6th, 2026, at approximately 2055 hours, a theft at the Dollar General located on Colonial Road in the Town of Fairfax was reported to the Vermont State Police.

 

The individual attached is described as approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, late 30’s, dirty blond hair, and was last seen operating a red SUV.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On September 6th, 2026, at approximately 2138 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police – St. Albans Barracks responded to the report of a single-vehicle crash on State Park Rd in the Town of Franklin, VT. On scene, Troopers were able to identify the operator as Chyenne Malin (22) of St. Albans, VT. While speaking with Malin, she demonstrated signs of impairment.

 

After a thorough investigation, Malin was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. Malin was then transported to the St. Albans Barracks for processing and issued a citation to appear in Franklin County Criminal Court on September 22nd, 2026, at 0800 hours for the above charge.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On September 6th, 2026, at approximately 1908 hours Troopers from the Rutland Barracks were advised that Justin Hodgin (34) and Nicole Hodgin (35) wanted to meet with Vermont State Police to turn themselves in. Justin Hodgins was confirmed to have an active warrant stemming from failure to appear for aggravated domestic assault and violation of probation. Nicole Hodgins was confirmed to have an active warrant stemming from failure to appear for simple assault, violation of probation (x2), cruelty to animals, violation of conditions of release, and violation of probation (x4). Per the warrant, Justin Hodgin was arrested and transported to the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility and cited to appear in the Vermont Superior Court – Rutland Criminal Division on September 8th, 2026 at 1230 hours to answer to the charges listed above. Nicole Hodgin was cited to appear in the Vermont Superior Court – Rutland Criminal Division on September 8th, 2026 at 1230 hours to answer to the charges listed above.
