SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 11/30/2025, at approximately 1647 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police - Westminster Barracks were responding to multiple vehicles that had slid off the roadway between Exits 6 - 8 on Interstate 91. While checking the area, a Trooper came across a vehicle that had slid into the ditch. Troopers made contact with the operator, Heather M. Longe, 43, of Bellows Falls, Vermont, and observed indicators of impairment. Following roadside investigation, Longe was taken into custody for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. Longe was transported to Bellows Falls Police Department for processing and was later released with a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court - Windsor County, Criminal Division on 12/23/2025 at 0830 hours to answer to the charge of DUI. The vehicle did not sustain damage upon sliding off the roadway.

While speaking with the operator of the vehicle, Thomas Kenneally (35) of Cambridge, MA, the Trooper detected signs of impairment. Investigation revealed that Kenneally had operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs. Kenneally was arrested and subsequently transported to the Springfield Police Department for processing. Kenneally was later released with a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windsor Criminal Division on 01/27/2026, at 0830 hours to answer to the charge of DUI Drugs.

He was issued a flash citation to appear in Franklin County Criminal Court on 12/1/2025 at 1300 hours to answer the charge of Domestic Assault.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On November 29, 2025, the Vermont State Police received information regarding a motor vehicle incident that occurred along VT Route 7A in the Town of Shaftsbury. Reports received were that a tractor-trailer unit, had attempted to maneuver a U-turn on the front lawn of a property, resulting in damage to a propane tank located underground. The propane tank began leaking because of the damage.

 

Troopers from the Vermont State Police Shaftsbury Barracks responded to the scene along with local fire and emergency personnel. Troopers and all first responders secured the area and worked to contain the leak. No injuries were reported.

 

This incident remains under investigation. The Vermont State Police would like to thank all responding agencies for their quick response. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Vermont State Police Shaftsbury Barracks.

On the above date and time, Troopers from the Vermont State Police received a call advising of a verbal argument that caused one party to leave a residence in a vehicle while impaired, in the town of Randolph. Troopers located the operator and she was identified as, Melanie Considine (age 65), of Randolph, VT. Troopers observed signs of impairment, and found Considine to have operated a motor vehicle while impaired. Considine was placed under arrest, transported to the Vermont State Police - Royalton Barracks, and released with a criminal citation for the charges. Troopers were assisted by the Randolph Police Department during this investigation.

On 11/29/25 at approximately 0558 hours, the Vermont State Police-Shaftsbury Barracks was notified of a single vehicle crash in the area of Trumbull Hill Road in the Town of Shaftsbury, VT. It was reported that no one was with the vehicle.

 

An investigation into the crash revealed that the operator was Hunter Stratton (24). Stratton had caused damage to a homeowner's property. Stratton was located later on and issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Bennington Criminal Division on 01/26/26 at 0830 hours to answer to the charge of Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On the above date and time Troopers with the Vermont State Police St. Albans Barracks responded to a single vehicle crash into a guardrail on Interstate 89 North near mile marker 120.2. The vehicle was partially hung up on the guard rail, causing damage to both the vehicle and the guardrail.

 

Upon arrival, the operator was identified as a juvenile and was evaluated by EMS as a precaution. The vehicle was removed from the roadway, and the operator was given a ride by a family member. This crash is suspected to be caused by inattention, but the investigation is ongoing.

 

The Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by the Swanton Fire Department, Amcare Ambulance Service and TDI Towing.
