Further investigations revealed that Matz (30) was operating a motor vehicle with a criminally suspended license. Matz was released on a citation to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court, Criminal Division to answer for the charge of Criminal DLS at a later date and time.

Update#2 VSP BCI Troop B East - Royalton / Non suspicious Death investigation

Update #2

Vermont State Police received final autopsies for decedents Lynn Gilman and Burton Richardson. The Vermont Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington,  determined their cause of death to be carbon monoxide poisoning. The manner of death was classified as accidental from the inhalation of automobile exhaust.

 

 

Update #1

The victims in the case have been identified as Lynn Gilman age 59 and Burton Richardson age 63, both from Rochester, VT.  The vehicle was located on the shoulder of VT Route 14, in the town of Brookfield, just north of the intersection of Brown Drive. Ms. Gilman was located in the driver’s seat and Mr. Richardson was located in the front passenger seat.   No additional information is available at this time.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On 02/14/25 at approximately 9:25 PM the Vermont State Police in Royalton Barracks received a report of grey Hyundai Elantra parked on VT Route 14 in Brookfield for an extended period of time. Troopers from the Royalton Barracks responded to the scene and located two unresponsive subjects sitting in the vehicle. Barre Town Rescue responded to provide medical services however the individuals were pronounced deceased. Detectives from the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations were notified and responded to the scene to perform a death investigation. State police identified a 59-year-old female and a 63-year-old male decedent inside the vehicle.  The preliminary investigation does not indicate that the death is suspicious and there is no cause for public concern.  An autopsy will be performed at the Vermont Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington to determine the cause and manner of death. No additional information is currently available. The investigation is ongoing, and the Vermont State Police will provide updates when possible.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On March 30th, 2025 at approximately 1551 hours, Vermont State Police received a report of a potential assault that had occurred at 3812 Highbridge Rd in the town of Georgia. Investigation revealed that Audrey Hinckley (60) had physically assaulted a household member, to include strangulation. It was also determined that Hinckley had also threatened the victims life with a firearm.

 

Hinckley was taken into custody and transported to the St. Albans State Police Barracks for processing and subsequently issued a flash citation for the above offenses.
