On March 31^st, 2025, at approximately 2024 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police Williston Barracks conducted a motor vehicle stop for an observed violation on US Route 2A in Essex, VT. Further investigations revealed that Matz (30) was operating a motor vehicle with a criminally suspended license. Matz was released on a citation to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court, Criminal Division to answer for the charge of Criminal DLS at a later date and time.

Troopers spoke with all the involved individuals on scene. Investigation revealed Joshua Davignon (19) had committed the offense of domestic assault. Troopers took Davignon into custody and transported him to the Vermont State Police barracks in St. Johnsbury for processing. Davignon was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court - Criminal Division on 04/07/25 at 0830 hours.

On the above date and time, the Vermont State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Jones Brook Road in Moretown, VT. While speaking with the operator, Seth Naikus (32) of Moretown, Troopers detected indicators of impairment. Ultimately, Naikus was taken into custody without incident. Naikus was processed at the Berlin State Police Barracks and released with a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court, Criminal Division on April 17, 2025, at 0830 hours.

It was reported Jadhyn Walls (17) left her residence located in Waterbury, VT on 03/30/2025, at approximately 7:50pm. Jadhyn told family members she would return later that evening. As of 03/31/2025, Jadhyn has not returned home and contact with Jadhyn has been unsuccessful. 

 

Jadhyn is described as 5'6" with medium length brown hair, approximately 135lb, green eyes. Possibly in possession of a Boston Red Sox henley style shirt. A photo of Jadhyn is attached to this press release.

A passenger in the vehicle, Justin Hale (39), was found to have an active out of state warrant for his arrest. The outstanding warrant was for the charges of possession of a controlled substance and bail jumping.

 

Hale was arrested without incident and transported to the Westminster Barracks for processing. Hale was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility on $10,000 bail and is to appear before the Windham County Superior Court on 04/01/2025 at 12:30 PM.

Update#2 VSP BCI Troop B East - Royalton / Non suspicious Death investigation

Update #2

Vermont State Police received final autopsies for decedents Lynn Gilman and Burton Richardson. The Vermont Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington,  determined their cause of death to be carbon monoxide poisoning. The manner of death was classified as accidental from the inhalation of automobile exhaust.

 

 

Update #1

The victims in the case have been identified as Lynn Gilman age 59 and Burton Richardson age 63, both from Rochester, VT.  The vehicle was located on the shoulder of VT Route 14, in the town of Brookfield, just north of the intersection of Brown Drive. Ms. Gilman was located in the driver’s seat and Mr. Richardson was located in the front passenger seat.   No additional information is available at this time.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On 02/14/25 at approximately 9:25 PM the Vermont State Police in Royalton Barracks received a report of grey Hyundai Elantra parked on VT Route 14 in Brookfield for an extended period of time. Troopers from the Royalton Barracks responded to the scene and located two unresponsive subjects sitting in the vehicle. Barre Town Rescue responded to provide medical services however the individuals were pronounced deceased. Detectives from the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations were notified and responded to the scene to perform a death investigation. State police identified a 59-year-old female and a 63-year-old male decedent inside the vehicle.  The preliminary investigation does not indicate that the death is suspicious and there is no cause for public concern.  An autopsy will be performed at the Vermont Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington to determine the cause and manner of death. No additional information is currently available. The investigation is ongoing, and the Vermont State Police will provide updates when possible.

Following an investigation, Potter was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Potter was transported to the Vermont State Police - Royalton Barracks where she was processed, and released with a criminal citation and scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windsor Criminal Division, on April 15, 2025, at 08:30am to answer to the above charge.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On March 30^th, 2025 at approximately 1551 hours, Vermont State Police received a report of a potential assault that had occurred at 3812 Highbridge Rd in the town of Georgia. Investigation revealed that Audrey Hinckley (60) had physically assaulted a household member, to include strangulation. It was also determined that Hinckley had also threatened the victims life with a firearm.

 

Hinckley was taken into custody and transported to the St. Albans State Police Barracks for processing and subsequently issued a flash citation for the above offenses.
