Treay Stewart was found to have an active out-of-state warrant for his arrest. The outstanding warrant was for the charges of deceptive or fraudulent business practices.

 

Stewart was arrested and transported to the Rutland Barracks for processing. Stewart was lodged at Marble Valley Correctional Facility on $5,000 bail and is to appear before the Rutland County Superior Court on 04/11/2025 at 12:30 PM.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On April 8, 2025, at 1239 hours, Vermont State Police responded to a crash in the area of VT 105 near VT 78 in the town of Sheldon. Initial investigation revealed that vehicle 1 operated by Chaplin did not stop at the VT 78 and VT 105 intersection. Vehicle 2 operated by Machia was traveling westbound on VT 105. A collision occurred between the two vehicles in the westbound lane of VT 105. Vehicle 1 sustained damage to the driver's side concentrated on the rear passenger door and vehicle 2 sustained damage to the front end.  Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Operator 1 was transported to Northwestern Medical Center for minor injuries.

Update: 

Initial investigation revealed that Chaplin did not stop at the intersection of VT 78 and VT 105. Upon further investigation, Chaplin entered the intersection after stopping before assuring it was safe to enter.

SUMMARY OF CRASH: 

 

On 4/10/25, at approximately 1454 hours, troopers from the Shaftsbury barracks responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Maple Hill Road in the town of Arlington, VT. Upon arrival, it was learned the operator was entrapped in the vehicle and unresponsive. Investigation revealed Vehicle 1 was traveling northbound and left the roadway for an unknown reason. After leaving the roadway, Vehicle 1 collided with a tree. Members from Arlington Fire Department and Arlington Rescue Squad responded to the scene to assist. Once Ostrander was removed from the vehicle he was transported to SVMC, where he was pronounced deceased.

 

The crash is currently under investigation. Anyone with information pertaining to the crash is asked to contact Corporal Hess at the Shaftsbury barracks.

Following a thorough investigation, Troopers determined Jakob had provided a false report to law enforcement. Furthermore, he was found to be in possession of video evidence that was determined to be criminal in nature. On 4/7/25, Troopers met with Jakob and issued him a citation to appear in Orange County Superior Court on May 7th, 2025, at 0830 hours to answer for the aforementioned charges.

On the above date and time, Troopers with the Vermont State Police – St. Johnsbury Barracks received reports of a single motor vehicle crash in the area of I-91 North, Exit 18, in Barnet, VT. Troopers responded to the scene and located a severely damaged Volkswagen Jetta on the shoulder of the exit ramp, as well as the operator of the vehicle, Christopher Bolton (29), seated on the ground nearby.

 

During the course of the investigation, Troopers observed Bolton exhibiting several signs of impairment and subsequently learned that he had operated a motor vehicle on a public highway while under the influence of alcoholic beverages. Bolton was transported to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) by CALEX Ambulance for precautionary purposes. Troopers remained with Bolton and later cited him to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court on June 30, 2025, at 0830 hours for the aforementioned charge.

Vermont State Police investigates the deaths of two people at a residence in Eden

 

Eden, Vermont (Wednesday, April 9, 2025) — The Vermont State Police is investigating the deaths of two individuals whose bodies were found Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at a home in Eden.

 

Law enforcement received a 911 call at 2:09 p.m.  The caller advised there were two deceased individuals in a private home on Rt. 100 in Eden.  Deputies from the Lamoille County Sheriff Department and a State Fish and Wildlife Warden responded and located two people dead inside the residence.  Everyone involved in this incident is believed to be accounted for, and there is no identified threat to the community.

 

This investigation is in its preliminary stages and involves members of the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Crime Scene Search Team, Field Force Division and Victim Services Unit.  The Lamoille County State Attorney is also assisting. 

 

Following processing of the scene by the Crime Scene Search Team, the victims’ bodies will be brought to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. Names of those involved will be released after notification of relatives and further investigation.
