SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: At the above date and time, the Vermont State Police received a report of a vehicle that drove into the river on US Route 4 in Bridgewater. Fire, EMS, and Troopers responded. The operator, identified as Kevin Gipe (41), was uninjured. Investigation revealed that Gipe was traveling west and crossed over into the eastbound lane, nearly causing a head on collision, then departed the roadway down the embankment into the river. Throughout investigation, Gipe was displaying signs of impairment. Gipe was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and transported to the Royalton State Police Barracks for processing. At the conclusion of processing, Gipe was issued a criminal citation and released.
