SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On October 27, 2026, at approximately 1238 hours, the Vermont State Police along with the Brookfield Fire Department and White River Valley Ambulance responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 89 northbound in the Town of Brookfield. While fire and rescue first responders were on scene and the interstate was limited to one lane of travel, a secondary crash occurred that resulted in injuries.

Investigation revealed that Vehicle #1 was traveling northbound when it collided with Vehicle #2, a Brookfield tanker truck, which was parked with its emergency lights activated to close the right travel lane for the first motor vehicle crash. The operator of Vehicle #1 sustained serious bodily injuries and was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment. The operator of Vehicle #2 reported no injuries. Operator #1 had two canines in the vehicle, one of which also sustained serious injuries, both of which were transported to the Country Animal Hospital.

At this time, the crash is still under investigation. Anyone who may have questions may reach out to the Vermont State Police Berlin Barracks at (802) 229-9191.
