SUMMARY
OF INCIDENT:
On
the above date and time, Troopers from the Vermont State Police were conducting
speed enforcement on I 89 N near Exit 7 in the Town of Berlin. The posted speed
limit in that area is 65 mph. Troopers observed a vehicle traveling at 98 mph.
The vehicle continued traveling at an excessive amount of speed in the passing
lane, failed to maintain its lane and nearly collided with a guardrail before a
traffic stop was conducted. The vehicle was stopped without incident, and the
operator was identified as Athena Jacobowitz Teatum (33) of Somerville, MA.
Athena was issued a criminal citation to appear in Washington County Superior
Court – Criminal Division on November 12, 2026, at 8:30 am to answer to the
above charges. Additionally, Athena was issued several civil tickets
carrying a total waiver amount of $885 and 4 points.
