On the above date and time, Troopers from the Vermont State Police Royalton Barracks were notified of a minor two-vehicle crash near the Coburns' General Store in the town of Strafford, county of Orange, Vermont. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Teresa Farina, 61, of Strafford, VT had left the scene of an accident. Farina was later located and while speaking with Troopers, signs of impairment were detected. Investigation revealed Farina had operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and had been operating with a criminally suspended license. Farina was taken into custody and transported to the Royalton Barracks for processing, where she was released with a criminal citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court, Orange Criminal Division, on February 19, 2025 at 0830 hours.

On January 17, 2025, at approximately 1225 hours, Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks were notified of a retail theft at Kinney Drugs on Memorial Dr in St. Johnsbury. Troopers learned that an unknown male on in the early hours of December 21, and December 23, 2024, stole in total 16 bundles of firewood from Kinney Drugs.

 

Through the review of security camera footage, it was determined the male was Jason Korpi, and he drove to the scene and loaded the wood into his vehicle. Korpi was under criminal license suspension and had conditions of release to not operate a motor vehicle on a public highway.

 

Korpi was located on January 31, 2025, and issued a criminal citation to appear in Caledonia County Criminal Court on March 24, 2025, at 0830 hours. He was charged with two counts of Retail Theft, two counts of Criminal DLS, and two counts of Violation of Conditions of Release.

On January 16, 2025, at approximately 1759 hours, Troopers with the Vermont State Police- St. Johnsbury barracks received a report from Market 32 in Saint Johnsbury, regarding two separate retail thefts that occurred with the same vehicle. On December 27, 2024, Megan M. Luce was observed on surveillance cameras entering the store, filling her cart with merchandise, concealing it in reusable shopping bags, and then walking past the point of sale into the parking lot. The merchandise was not recovered by store employees. On January 2, 2025, Jason B. Korpi was observed on surveillance cameras entering the store, filling his cart with merchandise and walking past the point of sale into the parking lot. He was stopped by asset protection in the parking lot, where the merchandise was returned to employees. On January 31, 2025, Korpi and Luce were issued citations to appear in the Caledonia County Superior Court Criminal Division on March 10, 2025, at 0830 hours.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On 01/31/25 at approximately 1630 hours, Troopers responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash with death resulting on Goose Green Road near the Corinth Town Garage in the Town of Corinth. Initial investigation indicates the operator was traveling east bound on Goose Green Road when it gradually left the roadway. The vehicle then struck a tree before coming to a position of uncontrolled rest. The operator was identified as Wade Vangorden (68) was pronounced deceased at the scene.

 

Neither speed nor impairment are expected to be contributing factors at this time. The investigation is in its early stages and the cause of the crash is still unknown. The passenger was identified as Jason Degreenia, 46, of Brownington. Degreenia was taken into custody for two active arrest warrants and additionally was being sought by Orleans County Sherriff’s Department for unrelated charges including Felony Fraud, Possession of Stolen Property, Unlawful Mischief, and Habitual Offender. Degreenia was later lodged at Northern State Correctional Facility for the two warrants and additional charges from OCSD. Degreenia was also issued citation for violating his conditions of release as investigation showed he was using regulated drugs.

 

The two active arrest warrants contained charges of: Felony Unlawful Trespass, Driving with Criminally Suspended License X2, Unlawful Mischief, Violation Conditions of Release, Felony Operating without Owners Consent, Felony Possession of Stolen Property and False Information to Police.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On January 31st, 2025, at approximately 0916 hours, Troopers from the Berlin Barracks were dispatched to a report of a two-vehicle crash on VT Route 100b in the town of Moretown. Troopers responded to the scene and located a 2022 Nissan Rogue that had sustained damage to its Front-End and a 2016 Ford F-350 that had sustained damage to its Rear-End.

 

Preliminary investigation established that the operator of the 2022 Nissan Rogue was Jason Smith (47) of Waitsfield, VT, and the operator of the 2016 Ford F-350 was Chad Niquette (44) of Berlin, VT. No injuries were sustained from the crash and both operators were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

 

The Vermont State Police was assisted at the scene of the crash by Mad River Valley Ambulance and Moretown Fire Department.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, the Vermont Drug Task Force (VDTF), in cooperation with the Vermont State Police, Tactical Services Unit (TSU), Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit (EOD), Crisis Negotiation Unit (CNU), Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI), Royalton Barracks and Westminster Barracks, along with the Windsor County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 62 Gage Rd., Bethel.  The search warrant was the result of an investigation into the distribution and trafficking of cocaine base and fentanyl in the Chittenden, Washington, and Windsor counties.  The investigation consisted of multiple controlled purchases, arrests, and search-warrant operations.  The search warrant revealed over a kilogram of cocaine, fentanyl, a privately made firearm or "ghost gun", two sawed-off shotguns, multiple long guns, a grenade launcher and three pistols with extended magazines.  While executing the search warrant, investigators observed numerous animals living in unsanitary conditions.  The animals were relocated to the Royalton Country Animal Hospital.

 

As a result of the investigation, Richard BOLES (56) of Bethel, VT was arrested for cocaine trafficking, fentanyl trafficking, conspiracy, possession of a firearm while committing a felony, and animal cruelty.  BOLES was ordered held at Southern State Correctional Facility for lack of $25,000 bail.

 

India TWEEDIE (34) of Bethel, VT was arrested on an outstanding warrant, cocaine trafficking, fentanyl trafficking, conspiracy, possession of a firearm while committing a felony, and animal cruelty.  TWEEDIE was ordered held at Southern State Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 bail.  No mug shot is available for TWEEDIE.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

For the week of Wednesday, January 22, 2025 through Tuesday, January 28, 2025, the troopers of B Troop cited the following individuals on suspicion of driving with a criminally suspended license:

 

Tyler Taitague, 32, of Bethel, VT was stopped by Trooper Daniel Arrato on January 25, 2025, at 6:26 PM in Royalton on VT Route 107. He is cited to appear at the

Superior Court of Windsor County on March 18, 2025.

 

Chris Canavan, 39, of Castleton, VT was stopped by Trooper Kolby Baldwin on January 27, 2025, at 10:37 AM on South Main Street in Rutland City. He is cited to appear at the Superior Court of Rutland County on March 10, 2025.

 

Richard Bodington, 29, of Hinesburg, VT was stopped by Trooper Taylor Demick on January 28, 2025, at 5:53 PM on US Route 7 by the New Haven Barracks. He is cited to appear at the Superior Court of Addison County on March 10, 2025.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On January 30, 2025, at 0923 hours the barracks was notified of a two-car motor-vehicle crash at 7557 US Route 7 in Pownal, Vermont.

 

Upon further investigation, it was determined that Vehicle #2 was stopped to make a left-hand turn into a business, when Vehicle #1, traveling at approximately 45mph collided with the rear of Vehicle #2. It was determined that the collision occurred due to the inattentiveness of Vehicle #1.

 

Vermont State Police was assisted on scene by Pownal Rescue Squad. Both vehicles were towed by Southern Vermont Auto.
