Upon arrival Troopers located a single truck rolled over off the roadway. The operator sustained fatal injuries. Identification of the operator is being withheld until next of kin is notified. The Vermont State Police was assisted on scene by Peacham FD, Plainfield FD, Marshfield FD, Cabot FD, and Calex.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On the above date and time, Vermont State Police responded to the town of Enosburg for a report of a male who exposed himself to an older female. A subsequent investigation revealed that 21-year-old Dreyvin Patterson had followed the victim around the Missisquoi St/Pleasant St/School St block 4 times, and exposed his genitals while interacting with the female.

 

On September 16th, 2024 Patterson was arrested for the charges of Lewd and Lascivious and Stalking. Patterson was then transported to the St Albans State Police Barracks for processing. At the conclusion of processing Patterson was issued conditions of release and a citation to appear before the Vermont Superior Court – Criminal Division on September 17th at 1300 hours for the aforementioned charges.

Vermont State Police to conduct joint training with FBI

 

WILLISTON, Vermont (Monday, Sept. 16, 2024) — Members of the Vermont State Police including the Tactical Services Unit will be conducting a joint training with the FBI at various locations across Vermont this week.

 

In some cases, the public is likely to see a significant presence of law enforcement, but these are only exercises and not cause for alarm. Some of these events might include the use of helicopters. Over the course of the week, some of the more visible activities are likely to occur in Bennington and Windsor. Due to the sensitive nature of these training scenarios, they will be closed to the media and the public.

On September 15, 2024, at approximately 2029 hours, Troopers of the Vermont State Police- New Haven Barracks were conducting speed enforcement near the intersection of US Route 7 & W. Salisbury Rd. in the Town of Salisbury. 

 

Troopers observed a red sedan traveling south, passing another vehicle on US Route 7 in excess of the speed limit while vehicles were oncoming. Troopers confirmed via radar the sedan was traveling 92 MPH in a 50-MPH zone, which was 42 mph above the posted speed limit. The sedan was stopped without incident and the operator was identified as a Sabra Ballou (23) of Fall River, MA. 

 

Ballou was issued a citation to appear in the Addison County Superior Court- Criminal Division for the offense of Excessive Speed at a later date. Ballou was also issued a VCVC for speed under Title 23 VSA 1081(b) which upon conviction carries a penalty of 2 points and a waiver amount of $627.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On 09/15/24, at approximately 1819 hours, the Vermont State Police-Shaftsbury Barracks was asked to respond to the area of Sunderland Hill Rd and Bacon Hollow Rd in the Town of Sunderland, VT, for a report of a two-vehicle crash.

 

Troopers arrived on the scene and identified Operator #1 as 18-year-old Eliza Hurd from Arlington, VT. Hurd was operating vehicle #1 and traveling west on Bacon Hollow Rd. Operator #2 was identified as 55-year-old Dan Mulroy from Sunderland, VT. Mulroy was operating vehicle #2 and traveling north on Sunderland Hill Rd.

 

Operator #1 came to the stop sign at the end of Bacon Hollow Rd and attempted to make a left hand turn on Sunderland Hill Rd. While Operator #1 was turning onto Sunderland Hill Rd, Operator #2 came down the hill, traveling north. Operator #1 failed to yield to oncoming traffic, causing the vehicles to collide head-on.

 

Both vehicles sustained totaling damage and were towed by Paul's Towing.

 

Vermont State Police were assisted by the Arlington Fire Department, Arlington Rescue Squad, and Paul's Towing.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 9/15/24 at approximately 1849 hours Troopers from the Vermont State Police responded to a car in a ditch in Lyndon, VT. Upon arrival the operator was identified as Sarah Andrews (34) of Clarendon, VT. Investigation determined Andrews had driven while under the influence.  She was taken into custody and transported to the Vermont State Police Barracks in St. Johnsbury, VT. Andrews was processed and released on a citation to appear at the Caledonia County Superior Court – Criminal Division on 09/30/24 at 0830.

On the above date and time, The Vermont State Police was notified of a domestic altercation that occurred inside a vehicle in the Town of Cambridge. The person of interest was identified as Seth Hoag, 40, of Johnson, VT. Investigation revealed Hoag caused harm physically and mentally to a female while in the presence of a child and later violated a temporary restraining order. He was taken into custody on September 15, 2024 without incident and transported to the Morristown Police Department for processing. He was held at Northeast Correctional Complex without bail.

Vermont State Police provides update on investigation into suspicious deaths in Pawlet

 

PAWLET, Vermont (Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024) — As the investigation continues, the Vermont State Police is able to confirm there are three victims in Pawlet whose deaths are considered suspicious.

 

The case remains in its early phases as detectives canvass the area and conduct interviews, and the Crime Scene Search Team processes the location. No additional details are available.

The Vermont State Police is investigating suspicious deaths in the Rutland County town of Pawlet.

 

Early Sunday morning, Sept. 15, 2024, when police received a call reporting a suspicious person. Subsequent investigation led the state police to a residence on Vermont Route 133, where troopers located the deceased victims.

 

This investigation is in its preliminary stages and involves members of the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Crime Scene Search Team, Field Force Division and Victim Services Unit.

 

Following processing of the scene by CSST, the victims’ bodies will be brought to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for autopsies to determine the cause and manner of death. Their names will be released following confirmation of identities and notification of relatives.

 

Initial work by detectives indicates this was an isolated event with no identified threat to the community.
