SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 11/30/24 at approximately 1723 hours Vermont State Police were advised of a lost juvenile hunter in the area of woods near South Road and Butternut Gutter, Arlington.

After establishing a command post where joint operations could be conducted, the Arlington Fire Department entered the woods and were able to locate the juvenile, who was then escorted out to safety. Once out, the juvenile was evaluated by Northshire Rescue before being released to a family member.

Nelson was taken into custody without incident and transported to Springfield Police Department for processing. Nelson was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility on $500 bail, issued court ordered conditions of release, and a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windsor Criminal Division on 12/02/2024 at 1230 hours.

Prior to arrival, Troopers were notified the operator, Allard (42) had been given a ride from the scene by a good Samaritan to the Windsor County Sherriff's Office in the Town of Woodstock, Vermont. Upon arrival, Troopers made contact with Allard. While speaking with Allard, Troopers detected signs of impairment. Investigation revealed Allard was operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants. Allard was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center by members from the Woodstock Ambulance due to injuries he sustained during the crash. Allard was issued a citation to appear before the Windsor County Superior Court – Criminal Division at a later date and time.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: At the above date and time, Vermont State Police received several calls about a dog jumping out of the bed of a pickup truck in motion on Interstate 89, Hartford. The dog, a German Shepard, was struck by a vehicle after the fall and sustained life-threatening injuries. A good Samaritan rushed the dog to Save's Emergency Care in Lebanon, NH. The truck was described as possibly a dark blue GMC, with plywood railings attached to the bed. Witnesses also indicated the truck had other debris in the bed. The Vermont State Police is requesting the operator of the truck contact them as soon as possible. Troopers observed several indicators of impairment and Simpson was screen for DUI.  Simpson was ultimately arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. Simpson was transported to the New Haven State Police Barracks for processing where he was later released with a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division on December 16, 2024.

This incident is expected to last until further notice. Specific details are not yet available and updates will be provided as appropriate.

UPDATED Missing Person / Williston Barracks

INCIDENT LOCATION: Bolton Valley Access Road, Bolton VT  

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On November 25th, 2024, at approximately 1908 hours, members of the Vermont State Police received the report of a missing person in the town of Bolton. The complainant advised that his nephew has not been heard from since November 2nd, 2024 , lives out of his vehicle and suffers from mental health issues. The male was identified as Robert Painter 12/24/1995. The complainant stated Painter is likely operating a Silver 2017 Chevy Cruze displaying a Vermont registration plate KHW215. A photograph of Painter is attached for reference. Anyone with information pertaining to Painter’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Vermont State Police Williston Barracks at 802-878-7111. This investigation is ongoing at this time and further updates will be provided as they become available.  

 

**Update**

On 11/28/24 at approximately 1940 hours the Vermont State Police were notified that the New Hampshire State Police had located Robert Painter 12/24/1995 in New Hampshire safe. Family members and concerned parties have been updated the location and status of Painter.
