On June 30, 2019, at approximately 1935 hours, Vermont State Police Williston Barracks responded to a report of a possible vehicle on fire on Interstate 89 southbound in Bolton.  Upon arrival the vehicle was found to have had a mechanical failure. The operator of that vehicle, Martin Patterson, age 27 of Colchester, was found to have his privilege to operate a motor vehicle criminally suspended. Patterson was released with a citation to appear at the Chittenden County Superior Court-Criminal Division on July 23, 2019, at 0830 hours to answer the charge of Driving with a Suspended License.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On 06/29/2019 at approximately 9:02 pm, a member of the Vermont State Police, Westminster Station responded to Hanson Rd in the Town of Halifax for a reported single vehicle crash. 

 

Investigation found that a vehicle being operated by Mr. Ian Latham, 19 of Halifax, was headed northbound when he impacted a tree stump and then a tree off of the east side of the roadway.   Mr. Latham advised that he was distracted when he impacted the tree and was uninjured.  

 

No injuries were sustained in this crash and Mr. Latham’s vehicle was towed by A’s Towing of Guilford.

On June 30, 2019 between the hours of 1:30 PM and 3:25 PM Troopers from the

Royalton Barracks conducted a high visibility patrol on Interstate 89 in the

Town of Royalton, Bethel and Randolph.  The focus of this patrol was to

detect and deter aggressive driving.

 

Details:

.               Troopers involved: 4

.               Number of traffic stops: 16

.               Number of tickets issued: 13

.               Number of written warnings: 6

 

Highlight:

- 20 Year old Vermont male was found to be in possession of marijuana.  Further it was found that he was transporting the marijuana in an open container. The operator was screened for the possibility of Operating Under the Influence of Drugs. The operator was issued civil ticket for marijuana.

- The high speed observed during this patrol was 95 miles per hour

 

Reducing aggressive driving remains a high priority of the Vermont State Police.

As the 4th of July holiday season approaches expect increased enforcement.

On 06.30.2019, at approximately 1500 hours, Trooper's from the Vermont State Police Middlesex Field Station were made aware of a missing individual

identified as Brian Chadwick DOB: 01.03.1958. Chadwick walked away from his residence at approximately 0900 hours this morning in his pajamas and has not

been seen since. Chadwick is described as a white male, approximately 5'11", weighing approximately 200 lbs, with blue eyes, brown hair and a beard. Chadwick

was last seen wearing a dark sweatshirt and pajama pants walking along George Street away from his residence in Orange, VT.

 

Chadwick is in possession of his prescription medications and his family advised that he made some concerning comments prior to leaving and are concerned for his welfare.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On May 30th, 2019, both Stockwell and Ramirez took the stand in order to testify for the defense, in related to the original assault case, filed under case 19B100635.

 

During the course of Stockwell's testimony, while providing sworn testimony, under oath, committed the act of perjury. Stockwell lied about communications with the victim, during his incarceration period at Southern State Correctional Facility, which violated his conditions of release. Once this act was committed, Troopers from the Vermont State Police applied for, were granted and executed a search warrant during the court proceeding in order to obtain the letters. Once the letters were obtained, Stockwell was issued a citation for: Perjury (Felony) and Violations of Conditions of Release (x3).

 

During the same court proceeding, Ramirez took the stand for the defense and while providing sworn testimony, under oath, admitted to the crimes of: Knowingly driving on a Criminally Suspended Driver’s License, Providing False Information to a Law Enforcement Officer and Violation of Conditions of Release(x3). Ramirez was cited for the listed crimes.

regards to Michael Amatruda who had assaulted a family member and removed the phone so they couldn't call the police. Amatruda also took a vehicle without the owner’s consent to flee the residence prior to the police arriving. Amatruda doesn't have a license to operate a motor vehicle due to he is currently suspended. Amatruda was located in Newport Center, operating the vehicle. Amatruda was then taken into custody due to the above offenses.

lights on. Troopers were able to locate and conduct a traffic stop with the

vehicle in the area of the Richmond Flats. The operator, Linda Kelly (59) of

Brookfield, showed signs of impairment. Further investigation found Kelly to be

under the influence of alcohol. Kelly was placed under arrest and transported to

the Williston State Police Barracks for processing. She was later released with

a citation to appear before Chittenden Criminal Court.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On June 30th 2019 at 0025 hours, VSP Shaftsbury Troopers were dispatched to Laver Road in Arlington for a report of an intoxicated male that had driven to a residence and was behaving extremely belligerent towards the occupants of the residence, causing a disturbance in the front yard. Troopers arrived on scene and were unable to locate the male party. After a short search Troopers located Farkas, 60, hiding in the woodline adjacent to the residence. Farkas was placed under arrest and transported to the Shaftsbury State Police barracks for processing.

 

Farkas was issued Conditions of Release to include that he appear before the Bennington County Superior Court-Criminal Division on July 1st 2019 at 1230 hours to answer to the above charges.

State Police is requesting assistance in locating John Fox, age 29, of Williamstown, Vermont.  He was last seen around 2245 hours on 06/29/19 at his residence in Williamstown.  It is believed that Fox left the residence on foot and there is no known direction of travel.  He is 5'11" with short cut black hair.  Fox was last seen wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt and black pants.  If anyone has seen Fox, they are asked to contact the State Police Barracks in Middlesex.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On June 29, 2019 at approximately 1239 hours Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks responded to Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH to meet with a victim of an assault. Troopers learned that Elsie Whitaker (72) had been physically injured after an altercation with Sabrina Holland (34) on Railroad St in Wells River, VT. Troopers located Holland and cited her into Orange County Criminal Court to answer to the charge of Simple Assault.

 

Further investigation revealed that during the altercation Whitaker impeded the flow of vehicular traffic, and engaged in threatening behavior. Whitaker was cited into Orange County Criminal Court to answer to the charge of Disorderly Conduct.

On 06/15/19 at approximately 22:50 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police Shaftsbury Barracks were dispatched to a report of damaged property at a residence along Dorset West Road, a public highway located in the Town of Dorset, Vermont. Upon arrival, Troopers observed extensive damage to the fence and landscaping of the residence. Troopers located tire tracks and wreckage of a late model white Volkswagen (unknown model) amidst the debris, indicating the vehicle had left the roadway and collided with multiple objects before returning to the roadway and leaving the area.

 

Investigation revealed Nancy R. Ziegler (59), of Dorset, VT, had admitted to crashing her vehicle into the fence. After numerous attempts to contact Ziegler, Ziegler finally turned herself in to the Vermont State Police on 06-29-19 at approximately 11:30 hours. Ziegler was issued a citation to appear in Bennington County Superior Court Criminal Division on 07-15-2019 to answer to the charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Duty to Stop), a violation of Title 23 Vermont Statutes Annotated 1128; as well as Negligent Operation, a violation of Title 23 Vermont Statutes Annotated 1091.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On 6/28/2019 at approximately 1951 hours, the Vermont State Police were advised

of a single vehicle crash on Church Hill Road in the town of Charlotte. There

were no injuries or hazards reported from this crash. When Troopers arrived on

scene they identified the operator as Zancy VonHooks (59) of Jeffersonville.

VonHooks reported leaving the roadway after attempting to avoid a deer in the

road. While speaking with Troopers VonHooks showed signs of impairment.

Further investigation found VonHooks to be under the influence of alcohol. It

was also found that VonHooks was texting and driving just prior to the crash. She

was placed under arrest and transported to the Williston State Police Barracks

for processing. She was later released with a citation to appear before

Chittenden Criminal Court for the offense of Driving Under the Influence #1.
