SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On September 29, 2026, at approximately
1015 hours a vehicle was observed traveling west on VT Route 36 near the
intersection with West Street in the Town of Fairfield at a high rate of speed.
Doppler radar confirmed the speed of the vehicle to be 91 MPH, a speed of 41
MPH over the posted speed limit. A motor vehicle stop was conducted, and the
driver was identified as Aaron Howard (30) of Fairfax, VT. Howard was issued a
criminal citation to appear before the Franklin County Superior Court Criminal
Division to answer the charge of excessive speed. He was also issued two
tickets totaling $718.00.
Egregious speeds such as this can have disastrous
consequences if a motor vehicle crash were to occur. Please do your part and
abide by the posted speed limit.
