At the above date and time, Troopers with the Vermont State Police, Royalton Barracks, checked on a disabled vehicle on I89 S, mm 5.6, Hartford VT. The operator was identified as Weldon King (35). Investigation revealed that King failed to maintain his lane and departed the roadway, striking a delineator near mm 10. Throughout the investigation, King was displaying signs of impairment. King was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and transported to the Hartford Police Department for processing. King was issued a citation to answer to the above charge and released.

On the above date and time, Vermont State Police St. Johnsbury was dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle with an unresponsive occupant. Upon arrival of EMS the vehicle left the scene. Troopers later observed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The operator, Christina Thompson of St. Johnsbury displayed several indicators of impairment and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. Thompson was transported to the St. Johnsbury barracks for processing and issued a citation to appear in Caledonia Superior Court for the aforementioned charge.

A traffic stop was conducted, and the operator was identified as Shannon Rios of St. Johnsbury. After investigation and observation of several indicators of impairment, Rios was placed under arrest for the aforementioned charges. Rios was transported and processed at the St. Johnsbury Barracks and issued a citation to appear in Caledonia Superior Court.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On June 10, 2025, at approximately 1745 hours, the Vermont State Police conducted a traffic stop after an observed motor vehicle violation on US Route 7 near the intersection with Little Chicago Road in the Town of Ferrisburgh. Through investigation, Troopers discovered Brittany L. Fitzgerald (34) of Rutland City, Vermont had registered a vehicle using a name that was not her own. Brittany L. Fitzgerald was not one of the occupants of the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.

 

Brittany L. Fitzgerald was located on June 23, 2025, and cited to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division on August 25, 2025, at 1230 hours to answer to the charge of impersonating another in an application, or aiding by false representation.

 

Further investigation revealed Alexis Lynne Fitzgerald (26) of Rutland City, Vermont had violated her court ordered conditions of release at the time of the traffic stop. Alexis Lynne Fitzgerald was cited to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division on August 18, 2025, at 1230 hours to answer to the charge of violations of conditions of release.

 

Troopers were assisted by members of the Rutland City Police Department.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 06/23/2025 at approximately 1710 hours, a Trooper assigned to the Westminster Barracks conducted a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 91 Northbound near mile marker 12 in the town of Brattleboro after observing a motor vehicle violation. It was determined that the operator, Jonathan G. Cartin (60), was driving without a license. Through investigation, it was determined that the passenger, Jillian Taylor (41), had an active arrest warrant.

 

Taylor was arrested without incident and transported to the Westminster Barracks and later lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility on $50 bail and is to appear before the Windham County Superior Court on 06/24/2025 at 1230 hours. Cartin was issued a criminal citation to appear before the Windham County Superior Court on 07/22/2025 at 0830 hours to answer to the charge of License Required.

Robitaille was known by Troopers to have multiple active warrants for his arrest.

Robitaille was placed under arrest by Troopers during the execution of the search warrant.  Robitaille was then transported to Northwest State Correctional Facility in the Town of St. Albans where he was held on $5,400 bail. Robitaille was additionally issued a flash citation ordering him to appear before the Franklin County Criminal Court on June 24th, 2025, at 1300 hours for the charges related to the arrest warrants.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On the above date and time, Troopers from the Vermont State Police St. Johnsbury barracks responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash between a motorcycle and truck at the intersection of US Route 5 and Evergreen Drive in the Town of Newbury, Vermont.

 

Troopers arrived on scene after FD and EMS and located and identified the operator of vehicle #1 as Andrew Burke (56) of Andover, MA. Burke did not suffer any injuries, and his vehicle was still operational. The operator of vehicle #2 was identified as David Bent (75) of Braintree, VT. Bent was transported by EMS to Cottage Hospital for injuries sustained from the crash and was later transported to DHMC. Bent remains in stable condition at DHMC. Further investigation revealed that at the time of the crash, Burke was attempting to make a left hand turn off of US Route 5 and onto Evergreen Drive when his vehicle was struck by Bent who was traveling north on US Route 5. Investigation is still ongoing however speed nor impairment appear to be factors.

On June 23, 2025 at approximately 0952 hours the Vermont State Police observed a vehicle travelling north on Interstate 89 near mile marker 47.6 in the town of Berlin, at a speed well in excess of the posted 65 miles per hour. RADAR confirmed the speed at 105 miles per hour. A motor vehicle stop was conducted, and the operator was identified by her Massachusetts license as Zina Ahmed (22) of Beverly, MA.

 

Ahmed was issued a citation to appear at the Washington County Superior Court, Criminal Division to answer the charge of Negligent Operation. Ahmed was also issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for Title 23 Section 1004- Interstate Speed which carries a penalty of 2 points and a waiver amount of $599.

Subsequent investigation led to the male identified as, Joel Banash, being taken into custody for Disorderly Conduct and issued a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court- Criminal Division.

The victim in this incident is identified at 18-year-old Eljak Menjwak of Burlington.

 

 

***Initial news release, 12:25 a.m. Sunday, June 22, 2025***

The Vermont State Police is investigating a drowning that occurred Saturday afternoon, June 21, 2025, in Bristol. The victim is an 18-year-old man from Burlington, Vermont.

 

The incident occurred at about 5:10 p.m. when the victim jumped from Bartlett Falls on the New Haven River off Lincoln Road and immediately began to struggle in the water. Bystanders were unable to pull him from the river. Multiple fire and rescue agencies responded to emergency calls, including technical rescue, and the victim's body was recovered from the water at about 8 p.m. Members of Bristol Rescue pronounced him deceased on scene. There are no indications this incident is suspicious.

 

The victim's body was transported to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office in Burlington for an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death. VSP will withhold the name of the deceased until after notification of relatives.

On the above date and time, Vermont State Police received a report of a vehicle stolen from a residence in Poultney. At this time, Officers with Castleton Police Department and Fair Haven Police Department were investigating a separate incident when they came across the vehicle in Castleton. Investigation into the incident led to the arrest of Paul Beckley (56) for operating the vehicle without owner's consent. Beckley was also found to be operating with a criminally suspended license. He was located and issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court Rutland Criminal Division on 08/04/2025 at 1000 hours.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On June 21, 2025, at approximately 2238 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police New Haven Barracks responded to a reported altercation on US Route 7 near the intersection with Vermont Route 17 in the Town of New Haven. Through investigation, Troopers determined Aaron D. Clements (33) caused bodily injury to a household member.

 

Clements was taken into custody for domestic assault and transported to the Vermont State Police New Haven Barracks for processing. At the conclusion of processing, Clements was lodged at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility for lack of $25,000 bail and issued a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal division on June 23, 2025.
