SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On November 01, 2024 at approximately 1850 hours, Vermont State Police with the assistance of the Lamoille County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to the area of VT Route 118 and Warren Road for a single vehicle crash.  The incident was called in by a third party advising they located a vehicle that had crashed into a guardrail and a silver Nissan Frontier into the ditch.

Responding units arrived on scene and located Antonio Latona (46) and Kayla Languerand (29) of Eden.  Together, Latona and Languerand provided statements to law enforcement advising Languerand was the operator of the crash that occurred at 1730 hours.  The alleged operator crashed into a guardrail damaging property that did not belong to them, left the scene and failed to notify the property owner or law enforcement.

Continuing investigation revealed Latona was the operator of the Nissan Frontier and Languerand uninvolved with the crash.  Latona’s license was restricted to only operate a motor vehicle with an Ignition Interlock Device equipped inside the vehicle.  The Nissan Frontier did not have such device.  Both Latona and Languerand knowingly provided false information and statements to law enforcement on scene to attempt to deflect the investigation.

On November 26, 2024 Latona and Languerand were issued a citation to appear at the Lamoille County Superior Court on January 08, 2025 at 1230 hours to answer to the above charges.
