On March 13, 2026, at approximately 2207 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police – Rutland Barracks, responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint at a residence on Pleasant Street in West Rutland. Through investigation, Troopers identified the operator of the vehicle as Matthew Bradley, 40, of Rutland. While speaking with Bradley, Troopers observed multiple indicators of impairment. Subsequent investigation revealed that Bradley had operated under the influence and was subsequently taken into custody for DUI. Bradley was transported to the Rutland Barracks for processing, issued a criminal citation, and released.

While on patrol Trooper observed a truck parked on the side of the road and impeding traffic. Inside the truck Troopers observed a passenger to be slumped over in the passenger seat. The male was identified as Way. He was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. During the investigation Way provided false information in order to deflect the investigation. Way was taken into custody, transported to the Vermont State Police Barracks for processing, and later transported to Northeast Correction Complex to be held on lack of $5,000 bail.

On 03/12/2026 at approximately 2114 hours, troopers from the Hew Haven Barracks were notified of a motor vehicle operating erratically on Vermont Route 116 in the towns of Hinesburg and Starksboro. The vehicle ultimately pulled over, and the Hinesburg Fire Department made contact with the operator, later identified as Megan Smith, 57, of Weybridge. Firefighters were able to disable the vehicle until troopers arrived on scene. Smith was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington for medical reasons. Smith was issued a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court - Criminal Division on 04/20/2026 at 1230 hours.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On 3/13/26 at approximately 1756 hours Troopers with the Vermont State Police St. Albans Barracks responded to a two-car crash at the intersection of Ethan Allen Highway (Route 7) and Plains Road in the Town of Georgia, VT.

 

Upon arrival, Troopers identified both operators who were evaluated for suspected minor injuries. Investigation revealed that Vehicle 1 was traveling North on Ethan Allen Highway and Vehicle 2 was traveling South on Ethan Allen Highway. Vehicle 1 attempted to turn left onto Plains Road and collided with Vehicle 2, resulting in heavy front-end damage and airbag deployment in both vehicles.

 

The road was briefly shutdown while an investigation was conducted and vehicles removed from the roadway. The Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by the Georgia Fire Department, Fairfax Ambulance and Stone's Towing.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: In late October 2025, Vermont State Police was notified of an inmate at Northern State Correctional Facility (NSCF), later identified as KC Myers, 42, who was found to be in possession of a Schedule II regulated drug on 10/24/2025. The subsequent investigation culminated on 03/11/2026 with the arrest of Jessica Baker, 46, of Derby Line, VT, and Myers. Baker at the time was employed by the VT Department of Corrections as a nurse and was found to have provided a controlled substance to inmate Myers. Baker was suspended from her position on 10/24/2025, and on 10/27/2025 she resigned. 

 

On 03/11/2026, Baker was processed at the Derby Barracks and released with a citation for the offenses of Transportation of a Regulated Drug into Places of Detention and Dispensing a Stimulant Drug. Myers, who is now housed at SSCF in Springfield, VT, was issued a citation on 03/13/2026 for Possession of a Stimulant Drug.

Operator #1 (Gibbs) was unable to maintain her lane of travel, and vehicle #1 exited the right side of the roadway. Vehicle #1 collided with a tree and Operator #1(Gibbs) sustained no injuries.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On March 09, 2026, at approximately 1031 hours Troopers were notified of a car theft reported Susan G. Saylor (70) in the Town of Readsboro. Investigation discovered that Joshua T. Johnson (43) had taken Saylor’s motor vehicle without consent. The motor vehicle was reported to surrounding police agencies, and the North Adams Police Department located the motor vehicle in the State of Massachusetts. The motor vehicle was recovered and returned to Saylor, and Troopers met with Johnston. Johnston was subsequently issued a citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court - Bennington Criminal Division on May 11, 2026, at 0800 hours

On the above date and time, Troopers from the Vermont State Police - Shaftsbury Barracks responded to a road rage incident in the town of Dorset. Based on the investigation and evidence at the scene, the incident was determined to be the result of negligent operation by Elizabeth Blackwood. Additionally, it was determined that Blackwood provided false information to Troopers on scene regarding the circumstances of the incident, as well as false information during the report she made when initially calling it in. Blackwood was issued a criminal citation to appear in Bennington County Superior Court – Criminal Division on 05/11/2026 at 0830 hours to answer to the above charges.

On 03/10/2026 at approximately 11:02 PM, Troopers from the St. Johnsbury barracks were dispatched to the area of 5269 Pudding Hill Rd in Sutton, Vermont for a report of a vehicle off the road.  Upon arriving on scene the operator, who was identified as Stanley Francis, was being removed from the vehicle by local Fire and EMS officials before being transported to NVRH for non-life threatening injuries.  Troopers interviewed Francis at NVRH and determined he was under the influence of intoxicants at the time of operation. He was processed and released with a citation to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court - Criminal Division.

Grandchamp was cited and released for Unlawful Mischief to appear in Franklin County Court.
