SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On April 2nd, 2020 at approximately 2113 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police Rutland Barracks responded to a single vehicle crash on Main Street, at the intersection of Pleasant Street, in the Town of West Rutland. Upon arrival, Troopers located a 2003 Jeep Liberty off the north side of the roadway. Troopers located the operator, Dale Smith, at his residence in West Rutland. While speaking to Smith about the crash, Troopers observed several sings of impairment. Smith was screened for DUI and subsequently taken into custody for suspicion of DUI, Criminal DLS and leaving the scene of an accident. He was processed in the State Police Barracks in Rutland and later released with a citation to appear at Rutland Superior Court Criminal Division.
