SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 02/23/20 at approximately 1828 hours Vermont State
Police were dispatched to George D. Aiken Road, Woodford, to assist a motorist
who had driven their vehicle approximately 200 yards up the road and got stuck.

It should be noted the road is closed to motor vehicle traffic for the winter
months to allow for snowmobile traffic, and is clearly posted as such. The
motorist was reported to have been following their GPS at the time, and directed
them to take the George D. Aiken Road while travelling to the Town of
Bennington.

The vehicle was able to be freed and driven from the scene. This incident is one
of several similar incidents that have occurred in the Bennington County area so
far this winter. It is advised to take notice to road conditions and road signs
when directed to such roads, especially by GPS. The motorist in this incident
was issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for entering a Closed Highway, a
Violation of Title 23, VSA 1112.
