Shaftsbury Barracks/ Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash

SUMMARY OF CRASH: On 01/30/2020 at approximately 1430 hours, Vermont State

Police were dispatched to a one car motor vehicle rollover crash in the area of

6779 Route 7A in the Town of Shaftsbury. While enroute to the crash, Troopers

were advised by on scene medical personnel that the sole occupant and driver of

the vehicle was deceased upon arrival.

 

Preliminary investigation revealed vehicle #1 was operating south on Route 7A at

the time of the crash. For unknown reasons, vehicle #1 crossed the northbound

lane and departed the east side of the roadway. Vehicle #1 then became airborne

before making impact with the ground and flipping at least once. Operator #1

(Tifft) was ejected from the vehicle during this sequence. Tifft will be

transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine exact cause

of death.

 

Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by the Arlington Fire Department,

Shaftsbury Fire Department, Arlington Rescue Squad and All Service Citgo Towing.
