INCIDENT: Reckless Endangerment

ACCUSED:  Ms. Rhonda L Brown                       

AGE: 59

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE:  Jamaica, VT

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On December 23, 2019 at approximately 11:23 am, the Vermont State Police received a report that Ms. Rhonda L Brown was driving on VT RT 30 in the Jamaica area.  The complainant advised that Ms. Brown was reported to armed with a firearm and may be en-route to harm a family member.  A member of the Vermont State Police observed a speeding black BMW 328 being operated by Ms. Brown, traveling southbound on VT RT 30 in the town of Jamaica, Windham County.   The Trooper attempted to stop Ms. Brown and she fled from the police.  Ms. Brown traveled thought the village center at greater than 30 MPH over the speed limit as she fled.  Ms. Brown’s vehicle did subsequently change direction and again travel though the village center, stopping in the middle an intersection.  Ms. Brown was found to be armed with a handgun and refused to comply with the Troopers orders.  Ms. Brown did eventually put the gun down was taken into custody. Ms. Brown was later booked on four criminal charges and lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $5000 bail. 

 

Ms. Brown was arrested for:

  3. Eluding a police officer                                  Title 23VSA1133
  4. Negligent operation                                                        Title 23VSA1091

 

Ms. Brown was issued a citation and ordered to report to the Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division on December 24, 2019 at 12:30 pm for arraignment.
