SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On December 28, 2019, at approximately 1128 hours, Vermont State Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Richford Road in Berkshire, VT.  Upon arrival Troopers learned vehicle #1 was a passenger car and vehicle #2 was a tractor trailer unit (TT Unit).

Investigation revealed operator #2, Bryan Fortin, had been traveling east on Richford Road in the TT Unit. He was traveling towards the Pleasant Valley Farm.  As Fortin neared the entrance of the Pleasant Valley Farm he slowed and began turning into east entrance of the farm.

At the same time operator #1, Skyler Tatro, was traveling east on Richford Road behind Fortin.  Tatro was traveling at a speed greater than the turning TT Unit. As Tatro neared the rear of the TT Unit he applied the brakes and his vehicle began to skid. Tatro was unable to stop before crashing into the rear of TT

Unit.

Tatro was severely injured in the crash. He was initially transported to Northwest Medical Center, and later transferred to the UVM Medical Center. Once at UVM Medical Center Tatro succumbed to his injuries.

Information received from first responders on scene indicated Tatro was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. At this time it is unknown if alcohol and drugs were a factor.

Please contact Trooper Boudreau at 802-524-5993 if you have any information regarding this crash.
