Press Release – Highway / Traffic Notification

***Update 6:05 pm Sunday***

Travel remains treacherous due to snow and ice on Interstate 89, especially along the corridor between Richmond (exit 11) and Burlington (exit 14), although hazardous conditions persist along much of the highway and secondary roads. Traffic is reported to be stopped both northbound and southbound from exit 11-14, with as many as 30 or more slide-offs and other crashes.

The Vermont State Police is working with the Agency of Transportation. VSP encourages all motorists to avoid travel if possible for the time being.

Drivers who are stuck in stopped traffic or involved in minor slide-offs are encouraged to avoid calling 911, as VSP and VTrans are aware of the situation and working to respond as soon as possible.

Updates will be provided when possible.

***Initial news release, 5:20 pm Sunday***

Interstate 89 North and South lanes between the area of exit 14 and exit 11 are hazardous due to snow and ice. There are multiple vehicles off the road. Vtrans is aware and trucks are out.

Motorists should expect delays in the area, or seek alternate routes. Please drive carefully.
