SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On January 17th 2019 at 2009 hours, the Vermont State Police were notified of a two vehicle crash on Route 78 near McLaughlin Drive in the town of Highgate. The complainant advised a tractor trailer unit had just struck a truck while travelling along Route 78. Responding Troopers discovered the operator of the truck in question was deceased and the passenger was injured. The operator of the truck was identified as David Roddy and the passenger as Georgette Roddy. The operator and sole occupant of the tractor trailer unit was found to be uninjured. He was identified as Kenneth Vickman. Initial investigation revealed the rear axle of the tractor trailer unit struck the driver’s side front end of the truck causing severe damage. The road conditions at the time of the crash were slick due to the presence of ice and snow. The investigation of the crash is considered ongoing.
