SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On 12/16/19 at approximately 0641 hours Vermont State Police responded to US RT 7 at the intersection of Mad Tom Road for a motor vehicle crash.  Upon arrival it was learned through operator statements and road evidence that V#2 was traveling southbound on US 7, near Mad Tom Rd. At the same time, V#1 was in the process of backing from Mad Tom Road onto Squirrel Hollow Rd.

The operator of V#2 was unable to stop and collided with V#1’s trailer.  V#2 continued southbound across the northbound lane of US Route 7, leaving the roadway and colliding with several utility poles and road signs before coming to rest.

V#1 was transporting milk and other dairy products which were scattered throughout the crash scene.  V#2 was transporting wood chips.

Vermont State Police were assisted at the scene by members of Northshire Rescue, East Dorset Fire Department, VT Department of Motor Vehicles, Green Mountain Power and Consolidated Communications. This area of US Route 7 was closed with traffic being diverted for approximately 8 hours during the cleanup.

At this time, this crash is still under investigation and anyone with any information can contact Cpl. Hess at the Vermont State Police.
