SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On the early morning of 12/13/2019, Troopers from the Shaftsbury Barracks responded to Church Street, in the Town of Shaftsbury, for a report of a single vehicle motor vehicle crash.     

 

Investigation revealed that, Vehicle # 1 was traveling east on Church Street.  Operator # 1 became distracted and began to swerve the vehicle back and forth in a reckless and negligent manner.  Operator # 1 lost control, crossed the double yellow line, and collided with a telephone pole on the north side of the roadway.  Vehicle # 1 came to a position of uncontrolled rest, against the telephone pole. 

 

Additionally, investigation revealed that Burdick had violated his court ordered conditions of release which prohibited him from having any contact with Pierce. 

 

Burdick and Pierce were both transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. 

 

Burdick was issued a citation to appear in Bennington Superior Court, Criminal Division, on February 10, 2020, at 0815 AM, to answer for the charges of Contempt of Court and Negligent Operation.
