VIOLATION: Operation without Consent from Owner, False Information to a Police Officer, Criminally Operating After Suspension

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On the above date and time, Vermont State Police received a report of an intoxicated person at the Dollar General, in the Town of Jericho. The person was reported to be purchasing alcohol and then got into the driver seat of a vehicle. The complainant reported the vehicle information and where the vehicle drove to.

 

Troopers contacted the owner of the vehicle who was determined to not be the operator who was described as driving it. Through investigation Gerald Sanborn was identified as the operator of the vehicle. Sanborn had not been given permission by the owner to operator the vehicle at any point. Sanborn's privilege to operate a motor vehicle was also found to be criminally suspended for life due to multiple prior motor vehicle offenses, including DUI convictions. Sanborn also provided false statements to police about his role in this incident. On 11/15/19 Sanborn was located and issued a citation. He is ordered to appear in the Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division on January 9, 2020 at 0830 hours.
