On the above date and time, Vermont State Police dispatch received a report of a single motor vehicle crash on Interstate 89 Southbound near mile marker 38.6 in the town of Brookfield, VT. Preliminary investigation indicated that vehicle #1 was travelling Southbound on Interstate 89 in the passing lane in a negligent and careless manner, causing it to hit a guardrail before hydroplane into a ditch. Patel was transported to the Gifford Medical Center for suspected minor injuries. Patel was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Orange Criminal Division on 12/16/2026 at 0830 hours to answer to the charge of Negligent Operation. This case remains under investigation at this time.

Troopers were assisted on scene by the Brookfield Fire Department, Barre Town EMS, the Agency of Transportation and Auto Clinic.

SUMMARY OF CRASH: On October 13, 2026, at 1453 hours the Vermont State Police responded to a report of a vehicle into a guard rail with an enclosed trailer that had rolled over. The operator, Ricky Thompson age 52 of East Corinth, was uninjured and advised that the trailer hydroplaned in the heavy rain, causing the truck and trailer to spin out of control, striking the guard rail. The interstate was closed at Exit 19 while the trailer and truck were removed from the roadway.

The Vermont State Police would like to remind all drivers to reduce their when it is raining and when driving through emergency scenes.

Subsequent investigation revealed that Takemoto was operating a motor vehicle while impaired. Takemoto was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Derby Barracks for processing. The operator was identified as Bachand. Investigation revealed that Bachand had operated under the influence. Through investigation it was determined that Natalie Zilski was in violation of a trespass notice and was also asked by law enforcement to leave the property. Zilski refused to do so and then resisted arrest as Troopers took her into custody. Zilski was transported to Rutland Barracks for processing and later lodged at Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility with conditions to appear at court at a later date. Zilski was lodged at Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility on $1000 bail.

On the October 11th, 2026, at approximately 1951 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police - St. Albans Barracks were notified of a domestic disturbance on Main Street in the Town of Fairfax. Investigation revealed that Kelly Bickings (45) of Fairfax, VT had caused bodily injury to a household member.

While taking Bickings into custody, Bickings assaulted a protected professional with bodily fluids and resisted arrest. Bickings was transported to the Vermont State Police - St. Albans Barracks for processing. Bickings was later lodged at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility for lack of $200 bail. Bickings was additionally cited to appear at the Franklin County Superior Court – Criminal Division on 10/13/2026 at 1300 hours for the above charges.

Members from Fairfax Rescue provided assistance throughout the incident.

SUMMARY OF CRASH: On the above date and time, the Vermont State Police responded to the report of a two vehicle crash on Shawville Rd near Heather Ln in the town of Sheldon. During the investigation Troopers learned that Op1, 22 year old Caleb Chates, had been operating his vehicle East on Shawville Rd when he failed to navigate a sharp corner. V1 impacted with a vehicle parked on the shoulder (V2) causing damage to both vehicles. Two occupants inside of V2 sustained moderate injuries and were transported to the Northwest Medical Center via ambulance. Chates was also transported to the Northwest Medical Center for treatment of his injuries and was processed under suspicion of DUI. All persons involved in the crash were later released from the hospital.

At this time the case is pending further investigation.

Troopers were assisted on scene by Sheldon Fire, AmCare, and Missisquoi Ambulance.
