ACCUSED: Amanda R. Zanis                                               

AGE: 38

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

During the evening hours of 9-12-2019, multiple calls to 911 / police were made, in response to a disturbance taking place on New Boston RD, in Norwich VT.  Norwich PD officers initially responded to these calls, and Vermont State Police began providing assistance the following day.  During this partnered investigation, it was determined that Amanda Zanis used a deadly weapon (knife) to cause serious injury to a domestic partner.

 

On 10-4-19 an extraditable warrant was issued for the arrest of Amanda Zanis, for the above listed charges.  An inner-agency cooperation with Norwich PD, VSP, and Danbury NH PD ensued.  On 10-5-2019 the Chief of Police in Danbury NH took Amanda Zanis into custody.  This arrest was assisted by New Hampshire police officers from Bristol and Alexandria police departments.  After a hearing in Merrimack County NH, Zanis waived extradition and was transported back to Vermont where she was arraigned on 10-8-19.  On 10-8-19, Zanis was held without bail, following her arraignment.
