SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:  On September 4, 2019 at 4:30 PM a nearby neighbor called 911 to report a fire at 1416 Coddington Road in the Town of Washington.  Coddingon Road is also commonly referred to as Hill Farm Road.  Chelsea, Tunbridge, and Washington Fire Departments responded to the scene and upon their arrival found a three story barn with a tin roof collapsed and burning in a large pile of debris.  The metal roof had also fallen over the top of the fire debris making it very difficult to extinguish the flames.  The large wood frame barn and all of its contents were completely destroyed in the fire and are considered a total loss.  There were no injuries or deaths associated with this fire.  Washington Fire Chief, Ryan Bresette, contacted the Department of Public Safety Fire & Explosion Unit to request an origin and cause investigation into the blaze.  Det. Sgt.’s Ambroz and Hill, and Assistant State Fire Marshal Maxham arrived on scene early in the morning of September 5th, 2019 to examine the scene.  At this time the cause of the fire is undetermined, but remains under investigation.  This is the second fire on this property within a month.  Anyone with any information regarding this fire is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Todd Ambroz at the State Police Barracks in Middlesex at 802-229-9191, or by calling the Vermont Arson Tip Award Program at 1-800-32-ARSON (800-322-7766). The Vermont Arson Tip Award Program offers a reward of up to $5000 for information that leads to the arrest of an arsonist.
