Charges: Accessory after the fact to Attempted Aggravated Assault, Reckless Endangerment

**** UPDATE -On 08/12/2019 Vermont State Police continued to investigate this matter. At approximately 1700 hours and with the assistance of officers from the South Burlington Police Department, Burlington Police Department and Troopers from the Williston Barracks, the two juvenile suspects related to this investigation where located and arrested at North Beach Park in Burlington. Both Juveniles will be initially charged and arraigned in Orange County Juvenile Court. The Juvenile female age 17 years was released on a Juvenile Citation ordering her to appear Monday August 19th at 0900 hours for Accessory after the fact to Attempted Aggravated Assault, Reckless Endangerment. The Juvenile male age 16 years was remanded to the custody of the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and ordered held at Woodside Juvenile Detention Facility in Essex. He will be arraigned in Orange County Juvenile Court on Tuesday August 13, 2019 at 1400 hours for Attempted Aggravated Assault, Reckless Endangerment.

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On Sunday, August 11, 2019 at approximately 1630 hours, troopers from the Royalton barracks responded to the area of 197 West Street in Braintree, VT to investigate a report that a juvenile male fired a handgun from a moving car.  This male allegedly fired a number of shots in the vicinity of a small group of people following an argument with another male.  Personnel from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Troop B East assumed control of the investigation, which is on-going at the time of this news release.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Detective Trooper Jason Lengfellner at the above phone number.
