INCIDENT: Fire Investigation

Building Owner: Laura Babineau, age 50

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:  On August 18, 2019 a call was received by State Police Dispatch regarding a fire of a camp on the complainant’s property in the Town of Washington.  The fire occurred in a secluded spot on the property and had not been noticed for at least a month, since the beginning of July 2019.  The wood frame 18’ X 18’ camp did not have any electricity or solar power running to it, nor were there any competent ignition sources inside the building.  Due to the complete devastation and consumption of the building the cause of the fire is undetermined.  There is the possibility of a lightning strike being a factor in this fire event due to the amount of time that had passed since the last time the building was seen intact and the amount of thunder and lightning storms which have occurred in the last month.  Anyone with any information regarding this fire is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Todd Ambroz at the State Police Barracks in Middlesex at 802-229-9191, or by calling the Vermont Arson Tip Award Program at 1-800-32-ARSON (800-322-7766).

The Vermont Arson Tip Award Program offers a reward of up to $5000 for information that leads to the arrest of an arsonist.
