SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On September 30, 2018, at approximately 2013 hours, the Vermont State Police and

the Underhill/Jericho Fire Department responded to a report of a single-vehicle

collision on Cilley Hill Road in the Town of Essex.  The operator was identified

as Caitlin Coulombe, 29, of Colchester, VT. There were three other occupants in

the vehicle: Kelly Sheperd, Age 29, of St. Albans, Joshua King, Age 22, of Essex

Daryl Curran, Age 71, of Johnson. Coulombe and the vehicle's occupants suffered moderate to serious injuries as a result of the collision. All of the occupants were transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center for treatment.

The crash was initially reported to have occurred in Jericho. It was only after the crash investigation began that a sign post was located indicating the collision occur just over the town line in Essex. Having already performed the initial investigation into the incident, we elected to continue the investigation despite it occurring in Essex. Preliminary investigation at the scene showed Vehicle 1 crossed the center of the road and departed the traveled portion of the roadway into the left shoulder. Vehicle 1 then collided with a tree before coming to uncontrolled rest. Troopers determined speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the collision. Charges related to the collision are pending.
