SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On August 10, 2018 at approximately 1027 hours, State Police were notified of a tractor/trailer unit that left the roadway while headed northbound on I-89 near MM123.

Upon arrival, State Police observed a 2014 Peterbuilt TT-Unit that had been heading north and drove off into the trees. The vehicle ended up deep into the woods and sustained major damage. The operator was identified as Rashid Jawed (age 34) from Laval, QC. He advised that he believes he saw either an animal or a person in the roadway, and swerved to avoid it. He denied utilizing his cell phone at the time.

Inspector Morris from the Department of Motor Vehicles came to the scene as well in order to check the vehicle and speak further with the operator. TDI towing service was called and ended up shutting part of the travel lane down so they could cut trees down and pull the vehicle back to their heavy wrecker.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
