SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On the morning of 08/04/18, Troopers from the Vermont State Police Shaftsbury Barracks responded to a single vehicle crash on Old Military Road, a public highway located in the Town of Pownal. Upon arrival, V#1 was at a position of uncontrolled rest down an embankment and had been on fire. Pownal and Pownal  Valley Fire Departments responded to the scene and extinguished the active flames.

 

There was no operator was present with V#1, however, New York Registration plates were found on the vehicle. Anyone with information regarding the crash is encouraged to contact the Vermont State Police Shaftsbury Barracks at (802)442-5421.

 

During the afternoon of August 4th 2018, VSP Shaftsbury Troopers were contacted by an individual, McNally, who identified himself as the operator of the vehicle involved in this crash. McNally was found to have left the scene of a crash, in which more than $3000 damage was caused to property other than his own, without making a report to law enforcement or the property owner. Further, McNally was found to have operated the vehicle in a negligent manner resulting in this crash. McNally was issued a citation to appear before the Bennington County Superior Court- Criminal Division on September 24th 2018 at 0815 hours, to answer to the charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Negligent Operation. This incident is still under investigation and further charges may be pending.
