SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On 6/8/18, at approximately 1629 hours, Troopers responded to a two-car motor

vehicle crash on VT RT 30 at the intersection with Sears Road in the town of

Newfane, VT. Investigation revealed that Sarah Loos (Operator 1) was traveling

north on VT RT 30, when she drifted left of center, into the southbound lane.

Loos was operating a 2012 Toyota Highlander (Vehicle 1), which after traveling

mostly into the opposing lane, struck a 1999 Subaru Outback (Vehicle 2) that was

operated by Robert Lind (Operator 2). Loos was the lone occupant of Vehicle 1.

Lind's vehicle was also occupied by Mandi Gamache who was seated in the front

passenger seat.

A witness traveling behind Lind, advised Lind was traveling at approximately 40

mph in the 50 mph zone.  The witness observed as Loos drifted well into the

southbound lane, striking vehicle 2 nearly head on. Lind was pronounced deceased

at the scene.  Gamache was airlifted to DHMC with significant injuries, to

include multiple fractures to her left arm and leg as well as unknown injuries

to her chest.

Loos was treated at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.  During

the investigation, Trooper's obtained a search warrant to collect blood from

Loos. Loos was issued a citation for Grossly Negligent Operator - Death

Resulting, as well as DUI Drugs.  She was ordered to appear in court at a later

date and time. Loos was not processed for the offense, due to remaining at the

hospital.  No mug shot is available.
