The Vermont State Police disseminate press releases for significant criminal or public safety incidents and arrests, but it is not intended to document every public contact or response to a call-for-service. If you have a question regarding an incident or case, please contact your local state police barracks or the public information officer. Please note press releases are available on this blog for 6 months following their public release. Please contact the public information officer if you need access to one that is older.

Press Release – Highway conditions

Rainy conditions are causing water to pool on the roadways in many areas, leading to an increased risk of hydroplaning.  The rain also reduces visibility.  Troopers are responding to a number of incidents and crashes on the Interstates and other roads, and in many cases the wet weather is a contributing cause.  Specific details on crashes are not yet available and will be sent by the investigating Troopers when available.

Motorists are reminded to slow down in adverse conditions, increase following distance between cars and have your lights on to improve visibility.

Some of these incidents are causing traffic back-ups and/or partial lane closures, and we thank everyone for their patience while the roadways are cleared.

Please buckle up and drive safely.
