On June 6, 2018, Troopers from the Vermont State Police- Shaftsbury Barracks made contact with operator #1 (Karhu). Karhu was cited to appear in Bennington Superior Court on July 30, 2018, at 0830 to answer to the charges of Negligent Operation and Accidents- Duty to Stop related to the below offense.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On June 3, 2018, at approximately 11:53 AM, Troopers at the Vermont State Police – Shaftsbury Barracks responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash at 222 Washing Brook Road, in the Town of Pownal, Vermont. Initial report indicated the vehicle travelled off the roadway and into the side of the residence.  

Investigation revealed operator #1 fled from the crash scene and was observed leaving in a dark colored sedan. Operator #1 was described to have long blonde hair and black pants. Any injuries obtained by operator #1 are unknown. The Vermont State Police were assisted by Pownal Fire Department, Bennington Police Department, and Manchester Police Department.

Vehicle #1 was towed from the scene by Walt’s Towing.

The location of operator #1 is currently unknown. Any person(s) with information regarding operator #1 or the crash are encouraged to contact Trooper Sommers at the Vermont State Police- Shaftsbury Barracks.
