Preliminary Damage Assessment Locations

WATERBURY, VT -Vermont Emergency Management, the Vermont Agency of Transportation, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and other partners are verifying damage today caused by severe storms on May 4. The Preliminary Damage Assessment (PDA) will determine if the state qualifies for a federal Public Assistance disaster declaration.

The assessments will take place at public utilities and in communities in Chittenden, Grand Isle, Lamoille, Orange, Orleans, and Washington counties.

Please call Mark Bosma at 802-839-6717 if you plan to meet up with an assessment crew. This will ensure that you have the specific location of the team, and a spokesperson is there. Assessment teams will move to a new location once work at a site is finished.

Current locations of assessments:

Colchester causeway, 11:00 a.m.

Bolton town offices, 11:00 a.m.

Vermont Electric, 11:30 a.m.

To qualify for a declaration Vermont must show at least $1-million in response and public infrastructure recovery costs. Individual counties must also show public infrastructure damages and recovery costs of $3.68 per capita, which includes restoration costs for public utilities.

Preliminary estimates by the state indicate Vermont will exceed the $1-million threshold.
