SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On May 12th, 2018, at approximately 1706 hours, Troopers from the Shaftsbury Barracks were advised of an agency assist for the Bennington County Sheriff’s Department regarding a single motor vehicle crash near the intersection of Mad Tom Road and Luge Run in East Dorset, VT.

 

Troopers arrived on scene and located the vehicle in the ditch between Mad Tom Road and a driveway off of Luge Run.  The operator, later identified as Jesse F. Torregrossa Jr., age 51, showed signs of alcohol impairment and was screened for DUI.  Investigation revealed that Torregrossa was in physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.  Subsequently, Torregrossa was taken into custody, and processed at the Shaftsbury Barracks for Driving Under the Influence #2.  Torregrossa was released on citation to appear at Vermont Superior Court, Bennington Criminal Division on May 21st, 2018.

 

The Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by the Bennington County Sheriff’s Department, Manchester Police Department, Danby Fire Department, and Manchester Rescue.
