SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On the afternoon of 09/11/17 the Vermont State Police in Shaftsbury received a report from an individual who advised a hitchhiker had just stolen cash from their wallet.  A brief description was provided for the hitchhiker.  Investigation determined a small amount of cash was stolen from the victim’s wallet which had been behind the center console while providing a ride to the hitchhiker, on VT RT 8 in Searsburg.  On the morning of 09/13/17 members from State Police-Shaftsbury barracks and Bennington County Sheriff’s Department located the male in question, Max C. Braun in Readsboro.  Braun was taken into custody and transported to the Vermont State Police barracks in Shaftsbury for processing.  Braun was charged with the above offenses and released on conditions.
