New Haven Barracks/ Serious Bodily Injury Crash

SUMMARY OF CRASH: On September 13, 2017 at approximately 00:05 hours Vermont
State Police responded to a single vehicle collision located at the intersection
Creek Road and Dewey Road in the Town of Salisbury. Further investigation
revealed that the operator of the vehicle later identified as Danielle Austin
(DOB: 12/16/1977) was traveling west on Creek Road and lost control of her
vehicle.  Austin lost control of her vehicle and subsequently collided with a
utility pole.  Investigation revealed that Austin was not wearing her seatbelt.
Investigation also revealed that alcohol is likely a contributing factor to this
collision. 

Austin was initially transported to Porter Medical Hospital in Middlebury to
receive treatment for her injuries.  Austin was later airlifted to UVM Medical
Center as it was determined her injuries were life threatening.  Austin is
listed as being in critical condition at this point.  This case is active
pending further investigation.
