SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On 08-08-17 at approximately 05:30 hours, the Vermont State Police was contacted by a homeowner on Riverside Drive in the town of Dummerston for an intruder inside the residence.  While en-route the State Police requested assistance from Brattleboro Police who assisted at the scene.  Upon the police's arrival the homeowner was locked inside a bedroom while an intruder was located inside the residence yelling and banging on objects within an upstairs bathroom.  After several minutes of verbal commands the intruder who was identified as Benjamin Labrie of Townshend was taken into custody.  Due to mental health concerns Labrie was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital where he remained in police custody until being transported to a mental health facility in Brattleboro.  Labrie faces charges stemming from the incident which include Burglary, Unlawful Trespass and Resisting Arrest.  Labrie was ordered held at a mental health facility till his arraignment on August 15, 2017 at the Superior Courthouse in Brattleboro.
