ACCUSED: Jacob Mcallister                                    

AGE: 25

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Westminster, VT

 

VICTIM: Numerous Businesses

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On August 10, 2017 at approximately 1320 hours, Jacob Mcallister was located on the Back Westminster Rd. in the Town of Westminster.  Mcallister initially attempted to run from the police but was taken into custody and transported to the Westminster Barracks where he was processed.  Mcallister was charged with 10 counts of burglary amongst numerous lesser charges.  Mcallister was lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield pending his arraignment on August 11, 2017 at the Windham District Court.

ACCUSED: Chelsea Ovaitte                                                

AGE: 22

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Springfield, VT

 

VICTIM: Numerous Businesses

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

As a result of a collaborative effort between the Vermont State Police, the

Bellows Falls Police Dept., the Brattleboro Police Dept. and the Windham County

Sheriff's Office, Chelsea Ovaitte was arrested on August 08, 2017 for her

involvement in numerous burglaries committed during the month of July. Most of

the burglaries committed were in the Westminster, Brattleboro and Putney area

and mostly involved businesses near or on US Route 5.  A significant amount of

money obtained during the burglaries was used to support Ovaitte's heroin addiction.

Bail was set at 2500.00 and Ovaitte was lodged at the Southern State

Correctional Facility in Springfield pending her arraignment in Windham District

Court on August 09, 2017.  The investigation revealed that Ovaitte committed

these burglaries with her boyfriend, Jacob Mcallister, who also supported his

heroin addiction with the money stolen. Mcallister was unable to be located

yesterday and a warrant will be sought for his arrest. If anyone has any

information as to his current whereabouts they are asked to contact Detective

Corporal Brian Berry at the Westminster State Police Barracks at (802) 722-4663.

The investigation into these burglaries is still ongoing at this time.
