SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On 08/13/2017, Vermont State Police were called to investigate a minor motor-vehicle collision on Interstate 89 NB near MM 84. Although all involved vehicles had been moved into the breakdown lane, traffic had slowed considerably in both NB lanes due to the location of the crash and the volume of traffic.

While attending to the initial crash, a second crash occurred in the heavy traffic. Troopers determined Operator #1 (Mulac) approach the scene from the south on his motorcycle and collided with the rear of Vehicle #2 (Healy), who had slowed due to traffic ahead of him. Mulac was transported from the scene by Williston Rescue, with what was later reported to be significant internal injuries.  Mulac is currently listed in serious but stable condition.

Traffic was reduced to one lane after the second crash while emergency responders attended to the scene and parties involved. This secondary crash is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Vermont State Police Williston Barracks at (802)878-7111.
