VICTIM: (The Vermont State Police does not release the names of victims of sexual assault or domestic violence.)

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:  On July 9, 2017 at approximately 1848 hours Vermont State Troopers received a report of a domestic dispute that had occurred in a motor vehicle on I-89 in the town of Colchester. Investigation revealed the victim was the operator of the vehicle and had been assaulted by 26 year-old Klair West of Fort Drum, NY while the victim was driving. After the assault had occurred the victim pulled over and West ran away from the scene. She was apprehended after a K9 track.  Investigation further revealed there was a young child in the vehicle during the incident. West was cited to appear in Chittenden County Court on July 10th to answer to the charges of Domestic Assault and Cruelty to a Child.
